I WISH for this place to get some updates!! My family have always been avid drive-in fans and so when we moved here, we were ecstatic to see a drive in not far from us. But boy, it's not the best. First, the food will make your stomach upset and you'll need the toilet at some point. I know the food doesn't have to be bad so it's sad that they went with low quality food items, not a good first impression. Besides that, it's okay but it's hard to enjoy any kind of movie here. We've seen Dune 2 and the deadpool/wolverine movie and you need to have great speakers and a perfect view of the screen. Their screens absorb more of the light than it refracts so the movie can be hard to see in dark scenes, even when it's night out. The sound (so conversations) is hard to make out if you're not using your speakers. If you are, the fights/shouting blows your speakers, and normal conversations are too quiet so, you need good speakers or play with the volume the whole time. We won't be able to enjoy movies here and that breaks our hearts because we were really looking forward to continuing this experience with our baby and we've been looking for a place as awesome as the "West Wind Glendale 9 Drive-In" in Arizona but no luck so far. It's surprising too because it looked like this drive-in is popular too. Maybe if someone cares enough, this place will get the updates it desperately needs. Until then we'll stick to watching...
Read moreI am a lover of the drive-in culture and experience. For me, it is a sad thing that they are leaving this earth and will probably never return. That being said, I have to keep it real but only because i want the Holiday to better itself so it DOESN'T go away. I am surprised it is still open, as it is not in a spot in which one can truly enjoy the whole vibe uninterrupted. It is surrounded by businesses that have lights on at night (during the show!). The owner(s)/property group/management/WHATEVER really need to have some conversations with the other business owners/small town leadership to see about doing something with their lights OR see about planting walls of tall trees closely aligned to block out the surrounding lights as best as possible. Other than that, the restrooms and concessions are on par with the average drive-in experience. Again, I LOVE drive-in movie theaters, they are an irreplaceable part of old school Americana that still have a valuable foothold in today's tricky, modern world, but the Holiday seriously lacks because of those damned lights from other businesses and a lack of barriers/trees. AVOID SCREEN #1! It is the screen/parking area I'd say is most affected by the...
Read moreNO LONGER SAFE OR FAMILY FRIENDLY.. Been there many times over the last 20 years and took a friend this weekend who had never been before to see what a fun experience it is. Got verbally assaulted and threatened by a large group next to us who wanted to use our parking spot for extra space to put down chairs and blankets. Security came to investigate the disturbance but did nothing. The group proceeded to surround our vehicle and scream threats for the next hour, keeping anyone around us from being able to watch the film. We stayed locked in with the windows up, out of fear and waited for a chance to leave. I made the mistake of exiting the vehicle to find a restroom and on returning was bombarded with partially full beverage cups. My purse with money, ID and credit cards were lost as i fled. The perpetrators then piled in their vehicle and roared off and we took our chance to escape. I have spoken to the police but Holiday Drive In refuses to return my calls and explain their handling of the situation or to assist in recovering...
