Lakeside Casino & RV Park, Pahrump, NV
I generally write reviews for exceptional service or for an opportunity to help management improve their business success and to alert fellow RVers about issues of concern. This review is for the latter. We spent a week at this park beginning Feb 26, 2019. Of the 159 sites, 44 have occupants who have resided continuously or seasonally for as many as 10 years. The site (#140) assigned to us had significant feces from waterfowl and pets and we immediately relocated to another site (#131). Waterfowl feces required our constant attention when walking our dogs and removal of the feces by hosing from the pavement was necessary every day. Signs forbid feeding the wildlife however they were generally ignored and unenforced. According to many of the long term residents and other RVers the park has seen better days. This is unfortunate as the infrastructure has potential with improved daily maintenance. Cable hookups are provided but no cable service exists. You must rely on your own antenna or satellite system. Only a few sites have picnic tables. Pit bulls and other potentially aggressive large breed dogs are allowed so beware when walking the park with pets. The pool and spa tub were empty during our visit and we understand that annual maintenance was often postponed. The lake is unsuitable for swimming and any fish caught from the dock should not be eaten. Litter (cigarette butts, bottle caps, etc) were abundant at our site.. Certainly not your typical “resort” property. The one positive aspect is the quiet setting and mature trees. $31 per night on a weekly basis. WiFi is somewhat sketchy during evening hours. It is interesting that the response from the owner is identical on all of the Google reviews. Makes me wonder if they are truly motivated to improve the maintenance of the property. Without attention to the aforementioned issues it is unlikely we...
Read moreQuick part: Somewhat helpful employees but due to my unusual problems they went over the line with me and did not help while they could.... Price is okay and the place is mostly clean (this is the only reason I'm giving a 2-star review). Place is infested with ants, within 4 days my RV was infested...
The long part: I had only booked the place for 3 nights, on my way to the campground my transmission busted, initially I underestimate the problem and how difficult it would be to get it repaired, Pahrump does not have anyone that could fix my truck, Las Vegas had only a few places taking jobs for 1 to 2 week's ahead, I tried left the truck in 4 different shops and ended up at the Ford dealer and a 8k bill for a new transmission... On my second night at the campground I extend my stay for 1 week, and even knowing that I did not had my truck they made me move to a different site (more expensive and not pull through), I had to pay a towing service to move my trailer, for my surprise no one occupied the spot I was for the next 10 days... I only know because I had to extend my stay for 3 more days... On my last day I had to go to Las Vegas, return my rental pay and get my truck, and travel back to Pahrump, after 11:30 am I started to get calls from the campground asking me to move the trailer, they knew that I was working on my issue and kept calling me every 30 minutes until I finally was able to get back and move on... On my way out I counted more than 25 spaces empty, and they say no spaces are guaranteed, they are first come first served basis.. There was really no meaning to push me that hard to get out or to pay a towing service to move my trailer... What could have bee a 5-star review (even with half of the laundry machines down) ended up being a poor experience. Although I realize I was part of the problem they could have worked around and being more...
Read moreLet's start with making a reservation. That was a nightmare. Website doesn't work (an issue they know about and has been this way for a while) and regularly drops reservations to the point that they generate a list of dropped reservations and call people on the list the day they are scheduled to arrive. If you miss the call too bad. There is NO WAY to c all and talk to them directly, and if you leave a message it takes 2 days for them to get back to you. Our reservation was dropped and we were LUCKY to get a spot here at all with ZERO compassion from staff. After arriving and reading their rulebook, it announces that they do not accept mail fro RV-ers. I had already had my mail forwarded to this spot. When asking staff, they gleefully inform you that they receive no mail or deliveries at all. The USPS has been advised to refuse all mail so back it went. This information is completely non-existent on their website. The grounds though nice do have some issues. The pine trees are very close on the sides so positining your RV for the slides can be a challenge. The pine trees do drop sap so that is an issue. And though they are pet friendly I find that most of the residents do not pick anything up and neither does anyone else so there is plenty of canine fecal matter about in the green space. The feel I get from here is "Give us your money, we will do little if anything for it. Never heard of customer service". Won't be back. For the most expensive RV park it fails huge. Please spend money in our casino but we will do the minimal for your stay here. Overall Pahrump has some of the least friendly people we have come across in our travels. Loved the visit to Ash Meadow NWR but honestly not much else worth seeing or doing, and the people...
