We are very disappointed in our experience with Studio 41. In April, our bathroom had a leak so we were left with an unplanned renovation project. We also had a two month old baby and wanted a one-stop shop that could help us get the materials we needed. Initially, we liked the tile and vanity choices, and that sold us on using Studio 41. After that, we had quite a few issues. -an appointment we scheduled days ahead of time to work around our baby’s nap schedule was canceled the morning of our appointment because our sales person had double booked clients-not even an apology was given -once our order was put in, I had to do constant check-ins during the windows when our materials were supposed to be in…at times, it seemed materials had been sitting there and we weren’t notified -paperwork we were given at the time of our initial order didn’t match what customer service was saying that we owed for the project; customer service and I notified our sales rep of the discrepancies, but we were never given an explanation; a month later we received an email with itemized materials, and I found that the price of the stone for our vanity had gone up in price and freight charges weren’t included in the initial paperwork-no one notified us of these changes -when the stone company came to measure for our vanity top, the stone rep told us that we would need a backsplash and sidesplash, which he said wasn’t included in our initial order; our Studio 41 salesperson told us we wouldn’t need a sidesplash so we went with her advice. This did not turn out well at all. The top had a huge gap on the side and an uneven cut of the stone. Several phone calls and e-mails were required to expedite a fix for this. It was repaired at the end of the week…but meant another day that we were stuck at our house waiting on a delivery window. -When we ordered the vanity, the preview picture we were shown had hardware on it. I realized a few weeks later I didn’t notice handles on our invoice. I contacted the sales rep to check if they were included-they hadn’t been, so handles from the vanity company were added. When the vanity was delivered it had no holes drilled to install the handles. We had spent almost $2,000 on this vanity, and then were told we had to figure out how to drill our own holes. We are not super handy and wanted them to be positioned and aligned correctly. We also were told that the company that makes the vanity doesn’t drill holes. Finding this hard to believe, I contacted the Highland Park location for Studio 41 and was told that the holes could have been drilled. No one in Palatine has explained why we were told two contradictory things. Instead of fixing this and explaining why we were told two very different things, a manager in Palatine gave us a small refund and a list of names of people we could call to ask to do this for us. Not once throughout this debacle were we ever offered an apology or acknowledgement for mistakes that were made, which honestly would have gone a long way. The amount of work on my end for a basic materials order that included tile and a vanity was unreasonable. Between the time the order was put through up until today, over 40 e-mails and numerous phone calls were exchanged because of mistakes that were made, miscommunication, and me having to follow-up on updates to our order. Read moreI originally reached out to someone in Glenview location (when it was still around) regarding a kitchen design and the guy who worked there was very rude, condescending and wouldn't work with me because he didn't like my budget. After few months and going thru different kitchen design places, I decided to give Studio41 another chance. I reached out to the main store on Pulaski in Chicago. I spoke with a nice lady who directed me to Joanna at Palatine location.
I schedule a consultation & send Joanna all the designs ahead of our consultation as I really wanted someone's expertise with the design. She was absolutely amazing. I felt like it was a first person who actually wanted to work with me regarding of my budget. She was super nice, very responsive, offered her design knowledge and spend hours upon hours working thru my crazy ideas and changes. She was very patient and understanding. She answered my text messages after hours and even during weekends which I feel bad about bugging her after hours.
She really listed to me when I was telling her I want a practical kitchen. Her designs were spot on. The most I was impressed on was her professionalism and fast responses. You can tell she truly loves what she does.
We ultimately decided to go with Ultracraft Cabinets. Even though we had many hiccups with the factory quality and delivery delay issues mainly due to Covid pandemic, we are so extremely happy and thankful to Joanna for working with us. I was introduced to a salesperson by the name of Joanna Szafraniec, who listened to all of my ideas of what I was looking for, was very patient, extremely professional, and knew every single line of product in the store! I originally went in with an idea of a layout for my kitchen that is quite large, and she offered amazing ideas to redesign it and made it much more functional. She has exceptional talent for detail and made the entire process a very easy one. I would encourage anyone looking to design a kitchen or bath, trying to match those selections with plumbing fixtures, and keep this all within your budget, to consider Joanna Szafraniec as your Salesperson and Designer!
