The trains Blowing past people when they wait at that station for a while and in a very isolated area can put them into very dangerous situations. They need to improve this place or shut it down before someone accidently dies or gets themselves hurt by being stood up on because the conductor doesn't want to stop at that station. Its not just bad service anymore its a safety hazard. Side note i know a lot of this is due to the sandstorms but in that case there needs to be some kind of workaround or worst case you need to shut this station down. This post was mostly kept with the homeless population kept in mind. This situation could be very dangerous if they are trying to leave the Coachella valley and get stranded with no plan at all when they get stood up for a "sandstorm" at this point i would just use...

we have used the station on a number of occaisions.. mostly at 1 in the morning.. its clean and has places to sit. BUT-- there IS a bathroom but one cannot Use it unless one of the security people stop by to open it for you.. (we were stuck there with a late train once and three young children.. this was a MAJOR problem) I realize they lock it for keeping supplies from being stolen and vandalism problems (do they actually have such problems?)

the solution to the problem would be a simple one. put a number lock on it and the lock code on your ticket. that way anyone without a ticket would not be able to use the facilities..

In the past, I've taken the overnight train from Tucson, AZ to Union Station in Los Angeles and I liked it. But, I was also in a Roomette - which makes a huge difference.

Recently, I looked into taking the train from Tucson, AZ to the station in Palm Springs, CA. I looked up the current schedule on the Amtrak website. The train leaves Tucson at 7:15 PM - scheduled to arrive at this station in Palm Springs at 2:02 AM. That's bad enough. But, if you look at the map, the photos, and a YouTube video on this station, this station has no amenities, is in rough shape, and it is out in the middle of nowhere.
