A really, really, really nice course. It's only 9 holes, but we play it twice and love every hole. The course conditions are always great, the greens are large, beautiful, sculpted, and quick but not overly quick. There's not a lot of trouble and the fairways are wide, so you can really grip it and rip it. The layout is as nice as a $100 course. It includes a looong par 4 that's very challenging (8-handicappers normally bogey it), a drivable, downhill par 4 that's really fun, a gorgeous par 5 with a downhill approach that allows bigger hitters to frequently have a chip or putt for eagle, and in fact there's not a bad hole on the course. It's not fancy or pretentious, and it feels like you're playing golf "up at the cabin"...which you are. It can get pretty busy during prime time on weekends with groups of beginner golfers. So avoid the crowds and you'll have an awesome time at the Bear's Den. They have special rates in the spring, late fall, and of course twilight that make for an outstanding value. By the way, it really does have a bear's den smack in the middle of one of...
Read moreThe owners of this establishment should really turn this into a private investment as they only cater to locals. Tourists and out of towners for the weekend are not welcome. Hide your kids from this golf course that are interested in this lame, lack luster of a so called sport as they are not welcome at this sorry excuse of a pitiful waste of land better suited for homes. The owners need an attitude adjustment or a course in customer service (if they like money) and pull the stick someone stuck up their rear end out or at least surgically remove said stick as whomever shoved that stick up there, did it backwards and it must hurt to sit down everyday to such a curmudgeon boomer. Oh the irony of how the owners that doesn’t allow children who play this dump of a sport, act like they are beaten red head step children deprived of every birthday they could of have. Bravo! We hope you rot in thehell and die of...
Read moreI've been golfing at Bears Den since 2007, and absolutely loved Lee and Cathy. I was saddened to hear that they had sold the business, and was worried about what would happen when the new owners took over. Well I golfed there yesterday for the first time this year, and the improvements were absolutely stunning! Bravo to everyone involved in the transformation of this golf course. I was blown away. If you haven't golfed this course yet, do so. If you have golfed Bears Den in the past, you are going to be very pleasantly surprised when you see what it looks like now....
