Knoll Lake — Local services in Payson

I just know this, Its a hidden GEM in Arizona. I have camped all over Arizona and this is one of are familys favorite spots to go camping at. Its over a 20 mile dirt road that rides along the edge of the Mogollon Rim and is regularly graded.Once you get there you wont want to leave or can't wait to make another trip back for more exploring. Also make sure you fill your gas tank up in Strawberry and have a spare tire and Ice before heading out, there are NO services, only camp grounds and...

This is beautiful place that takes a little effort to get to, but is worth it. A restroom is a plus, but no tables a minus. Did some fishing mid-day and almost had one. :) Some canoes were there and others were fishing and enjoying the space. The nearby camping off the road was just starting to have tents the Wed before Labor Day. The road there is a forest 'dirt' road and our Forester did just fine. The Rim Road is 'made' for the ATV size...

The road in is miserable. Plan on quite a drive if you're pulling a travel trailer like I do. But...once you get there it is one of the most beautiful lakes I've been to. It can get crowded in the disbursed camping areas on the weekends, but generally people are good about not crowding you. The lake itself isn't generally too crowded.
