I have shopped at Boland's since I moved to Chapin 6 years ago and have always enjoyed the experience. Boland's almost always has what I need to buy and the staff is usually friendly and helpful. I would normally give Boland's a 4-5 star rating. However, I went in today and noticed that none of the employees were wearing masks or social distancing in any way. I also noticed that they do not require customers coming into the store to wear masks either. In the checkout line, there were 7 people. There were two ladies working the checkout counters. So, I could see nine people, including myself, in that fairly close area. Only 3 of the nine people were wearing masks. I was quite uneasy and ready to get out as quickly as I could. The environment there is dangerous, too dangerous to shop at Boland's for such mundane items as bug spray, extension cords, washers, screwdrivers, and such. Too big a risk for such insignificant purchases. I now have to rate Boland's only 1 star because of their lackadaisical approach to prevention and apparent lack of concern for their customers and employees. Masks are such an easy solution to a big problem; why not use them, if you care about virus transmission? So, if you are immune to COVID, think it isn't real, or just don't care, you can still feel comfortable continuing to shop at Boland's. Otherwise, for anyone concerned for their own health and the health of family members you might convey the virus to, it may be best to stay away from Boland's until the management decides to be more concerned about their employees and customers bringing the virus into their store, passing it to others while in the store, and carrying it away to other...
Read moreThe manager and owner are crooks ....Buyer Beware !!! They will gladly take your money but will not honor warranty... I suppose it's a good place to spend money ...Just dont expect them to stand by what they sell. Stihl or any other product is only as good as the crooks or honest people that sell them... Bolands Ace in Chapin will blame you if anything goes wrong...Stihl usually makes a good product, ( I ve owned several)
Just dont expect Bolands to stand by them...
I had a stihl weedeater lock up ..only used a couple of times.. Of course they said I never had oil in the gas... Imagine that! The customer is always wrong ,right?
After lengthy heated discusions regarding a resolution......Whereas rather than go to court I offered to buy another weedeater for half price...Owner refused..Owner said he take his chances in court after I threatened this action. I guess cause I called him out ,whereas refusal to back a product.. We are going to court... So Matt then stepped in told me to leave store.. I immediately started walking toward door as he attempted to intimidate me.. I said plenty but never once cursed or threatened him in any way other than I threatened to call police and of course sue..
Matt lost his cool to put it mildly..
Lastly Matt, (The foul mouthed wanna be manager in training ) thought it be cute to hit/push me in the back as I was walking toward the door.. Dean Staton
UPDATE ... So Yes, After I called law enforcement, A few hours later I received a vague, apology from Matt, (Only after I threatened to file assault charges...)
So on to the better business I go..and to small claims court... All over a dumb weedeater...... Thank...
Read moreWe have shopped at Boland’s on and off since 2008 when we moved to Columbia. The employees have always been helpful and friendly.
I am a crafter/artist that tries to repurpose unusual items into decorative useful items.
Because I’m always on the lookout for unusual things, I remembered that my husband had taken his chainsaw “chains” to be sharpened at Boland’s. So I thought they might have some broken chains that I might be able to buy. When I explained why I needed them and showed them pictures, they kindly found a discarded chain.
On another visit to Boland’s, I was trying to repair an old hanging scale that had lost its finial. Katie, was wonderful in identifying what might work and was able to have a bolt re-threaded that was perfect. Cost of bolt and labor was worth it!
Today we went back to Boland’s to see if I could find the pieces/parts that would make a clicker for a wheel of chance. I know, it’s sounds crazy, but the wonderful Katie helped solve the problem. While I was looking with Katie, my husband was looking for a cord for a tire inflator. The staff member helping him took the time to look in the store, but found it online and ordered it.
You don’t get this kind of customer service at the big box stores!
Also, for all the crafters looking for help finding the unusual and creative solutions to a project, you might want to check out Boland’s...
