(2024) I have been going to Indy Screampark for years, and I have really loved visiting in the past, but this year has really left a sour taste in my mouth. I feel like they have been getting a bit lazy with how they allocate their resources and here’s my explanation why. I’ve noticed this year that they been adding more to the presentation of their park, such as adding more booze, more food trucks, heightened security etc.. but not adding to the attractions or hiring more scare actors, or changing up the attractions. I feel like if they added more games and monsters, and heck, maybe even a haunted hayride (which they definitely have an abundance of room for) would be ideal to keep people wanting to come back, especially those who visit yearly. I also heavily noticed that the scare actors they did have this year seemed a bit disinterested as well or they were extremely short staffed, but either way, I feel as though l didn’t get the full experience that I usually do. I honestly heavily debated whether I wanted to walk out this year because of all of this, but especially the heightened security they added this year which brought so much stress. The entire night, my group and I had cops coming up to our tables over and over while we were hanging out, and they were being just straight up rude and nosy. They were mostly checking for underage drinkers, which is fine I understand that they have to check to make sure we’re of legal age to drink, making sure we’re safe etc. but once is enough, especially if we have wrist bands showing we are of age to drink, so I would suggest maybe in the future consider checking ids before we enter the park and assign wrist bands according to whether we are over 21 or not, so that we can avoid borderline harassing guests. I Just feel like they are getting a bit lazy in my opinion and they have not been allocating resources correctly the past few years, but especially this last year. Personally, I believe they would profit so much, if they hired more scare actors, monster midway actors, more/ different attractions, a hay ride etc. instead of allocating so much into the presentation of the park and security. Not to say that they shouldn’t allocate to these things but there needs to be balance. I honestly don’t believe that I will be returning, at least not for awhile, as this latest experience wasn’t exactly a pleasant one, and this is coming from someone who has been visiting almost every year since 2016.
Updated (2025) this is the second year in a row now that I’m asking if Indy Screampark would consider adding a haunted hay ride to their park, I truly believe they would bring in so much money, especially from Indy locals who visit yearly if they added this. I will say though that I appreciate them adding a new attraction this year, I might have to come next year to check it out, hopefully the security and staffing issue...
Read moreNot as advertised, not even remotely scary. I've seen small town scare houses that are better with less resources and 1/4 the price. Paintball was anticlimactic, you wait for 1 hr in line only to take a small loop around with mounted guns in a bus that only get refilled twice for everyone on the bus. We paid extra for the special edition that is supposed to have double the paintball and we got the same amount as everyone else so don't waste your money on that. Either way there isn't a need to pay for more paintball as you probably wont use most of what you were given because the loop is so small. The guns were also often getting jammed and not shooting properly so you miss out on most of the ride. The only scare house remotely decent was the blackout, but of course you can get jump scared when you can see anything so that was a given. The others weren't scary at all the prison one was probably the worse and it was an "interactive" one, no one touches you even with the necklace so thats entirely false advertising. The neon one was an opportunity missed it could have been good but completely missed the mark unless you have an extreme fear of clowns as in seeing them will bother you it is only minor amusement for your eyes with the colors. The trail had the potential to be good but also totally missed the mark with nothing in-between the buildings and only 2 having jump scares. Strobe lights basically weren't utilized at all and would have made a lot of areas better. The zombie attraction is nowhere associated with the theme advertised, but is basically more entertaining for the people they take in separate rooms to pretend cut their hair with a knife and so on but they make it very light hearted fun and about age group 8-13 with it. They also only take 1 or 2 people every group of 10 with the necklaces if you aren't chosen you just have a quick walk no jump scares poor lighting and 1 person rubs your shoulder through one of the areas. Overall the walking paths are extremely chunky and uneven gravel not comfortable to stand on let alone walk on and the trail one is just asking for a sprained ankle because the gravel is so chunky uneven and you cant see. With the long drive and spending well over $200 for this the only thing we didn't regret was getting the VIP passes. With the VIP passes at least we only waited 20 mins in line at each attraction give or take instead of over an hr for the disappointment we were to receive. If we had to wait 1 hr in uneven chunky gravel at every attraction only for it to be massively disappointing, we would have left without seeing more than one. The VIP was worth the extra expense just for saving time everything else was a massive waste. Do yourself a favor and...
Read moreYears in the past I have been to this venue about 11 years ago and it was one of the best haunted house I have been to. Fast forward 11 years later, it is now time to take my 11 year old to her first haunted house so I automatically picked Indy Scream Park thinking it would be super scary.
I remember one of the attractions being outside in the woods 11 years ago and the ideas of the attractions were incredibly realistic. I felt like I was immersed in a Very real simulation of the world ending. I also remember walking into an old house on the property and the interactions they made in there made it very realistic. They also used to have a tent with Psychic readers and I also remember they’re being other entertainment, such as fire Breathers and what not which made it really cool!
We purchased General admission and got there fairly early around 6:45pm So that we did not have to wait in extremely long lines because they open at 7pm and the sun usually sets around that time. We did not want to purchase the VIP because we would end up Spending close to $200 or more. Our general admission was approximately $50 per person which included All three attractions. You have to buy your $8 parking online as well. We chose to purchase online for our tickets because it would’ve been less expensive than purchasing at the park, if you wait to purchase at the park it is an up-charge. I liked the first attraction where it was pitch black but i felt like we walked through for quite a while before we saw an actor. The idea of pitch black is great but more effort on the scare part would have been cool. The last attraction was interesting, because it is a jail or prison simulation… I actually was nervous going in because i am a former Sheriff Deputy and used to work in a pretty dangerous Jail and i thought it may be triggering for me but it was pretty boring attraction. All in all, it was just OK and for the price it really was not worth it, it should be decreased to $40/$45 a ticket in my opinion and that still a lot for a single ticket.
They have great food though, and I really can appreciate the idea of purchasing drinks, funnel cakes, fries and pizza while waiting or after the haunted house. Its a whopping $6 on fries. The workers that are not in costume are nice and professional. The park looks really great and clean, however, they could put more effort into the haunted house add more actors and have it be more scary. My 11 year old daughter was just was not scared. And you'll leave thinking you just wasted $120. I don’t think i will return but i would feel comfortable dropping my teens of for a night of fun especially with the Presence off several law...
