I arrived 20 minutes early for my tee time. After waiting 10 minutes for the staff member in the pro shop to come downstairs, he then spent another 10 minutes talking with me about which golf balls would be best for my game. I appreciated the advice and was polite throughout the conversation, but by the time I stepped outside to present my cart ticket, my tee time had just passed by about a minute.
As I walked up to the starter, she immediately began yelling at me in front of other players. She claimed I had ruined the round for my group, even though they were still walking up to the first tee and had not started yet. I calmly explained that I had been delayed inside by the pro shop, but she ignored everything I said. She pulled up a cart, grabbed my bag from my hands, and threw it onto the cart with clear disrespect. It was an uncalled-for and humiliating encounter that completely soured the start of what was the most expensive round of golf I have ever played.
I did my best to move past the experience and enjoy the course. It was beautifully maintained and located in a scenic area. That is the only reason I am giving two stars. Unfortunately, the same starter confronted me again after the round. Even though the sun was still up, visibility was perfectly fine, and two groups were still behind us, she scolded me for not coming in when it was dark. Once again, I tried to explain the situation respectfully, but was met with the same rudeness and attitude as before.
The man in the pro shop was friendly and knowledgeable, and I appreciated his help. Besides taking a while to actually come downstairs, none of this was his fault. I have always respected the game and the courses I play. I was not meaningfully late and did nothing to deserve the hostility I faced. I will not be returning. There are many other courses where I can enjoy a round and be treated with...
Read moreI've been golfing here for about two years. I really do love this course. Very beautiful and well maintained NJ course. I've always had great experiences there until tonight. I've never thought i would have to write a bad review for this course because I really do love playing here, but i am very frustrated with how my tee time today went.
I typically like to golf later in the day usually after 4 and sometimes even later. Tonight I had a late tee time at 530. Now I went into this fully understanding that it is very unlikely that our foursome would finish our round. With that being said, i still expected to get in a good 15 or so holes at the very least! What I did not expect of to be hawked and tracked down at 815 to stop our round and bring in our carts. I totally understand that the staff has to clean and sanitize the carts with everything going on, but I have played this course many times this summer (many of them later in the day) and I have NEVER had a ranger waiting for us to stop our play and bring us to the course clubhouse. It is the middle of the summer and light out still until 845. I played here earlier in the week and it was great! No one rushed us and we brought our carts back at 845 and the guys at the clubhouse asked us how our round went. Very nice people!! That's what I expect from that course. Tonight, MUCH different story. When I complained that we shouldn't have to be in at 815 and explained my past experience at the course with them, all they had to say tonight was, "well maybe don't book on Thursday and Sunday when we are working." Are you kidding me!?!?! Again, I knew that we probably would not get a full round in, but if I knew I'd be kicked off the course at 815, I probably would not have booked that late...
Read morePlayed as a group of 14 today. $67 seemed way too much for most of the greens being in such a poor condition. But biggest issue was a disrespectful ranger. We started at 1pm and a group in fron started at 12:30. this young punk ranger guy came to us on 6th green and `told us to close the gap with the group in front of us since there's a hole open. I tried to explain that they went out 30 minutes earlier and group behind us were a hole behind, he didn't give me a chance to talk. He said "I'm gonna stop you right there. It's your responsibility to close the gap with a group in front". He said that in very rude tone like a gangster trying to bully I said O.K. and didn't argue cuz didn't want it to be a fist fight and sure didn't want him to ruin my game any more than he already did. I went to proshop after finishing 9 hole in under 2 hours and seriously complained. I belong to 2 different group of 16 golfers each that play every week. I'm not coming back here. My groups will not come back here. And I will advise anyone even considering this place not to come here. I'm sure the words will spread much farther. Unless you get some kinda kick out of paying your money to be bullied, DON'T play at...
