To see a show at "The Heritage Theater" is to see community volunteer theater at it's finest. The iconic "old-chapel-now-converted-to-a-theater" has seen the gamut of Broadway shows from "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" to "Oklahoma" to "South Pacific" to "Noises Off" and "Oliver" - and just about everything in between. Talent? Well, when you have most of northern Utah to draw from you get T-A-l-E-N-T with a capital "T"! I have never been to a show there that disappointed (well, one time, maybe, when the power went off right at the moment the lights were supposed to go off (simulating a power failure on stage) and the dozen or so actors/actresses were suppose to go crashing one into another and end up in a big pile of bodies on stage. They went off, and stayed off, and stayed off. The actors/actresses started wondering what was going on, the audience sat there waiting for something to happen, and the production crew was totally dumbfounded by the situation. Turns out the whole TOWN had a power failure at just that moment - and it lasted for several hours!)
For good, wholesome, family entertainment at very reasonable prices (and in air-conditioned comfort now) - you can't do much better that this quaint...
Read moreCute little theater on the main highway in Perry, Utah. I can tell that the cast and crew really love this old building. And they took really good care of it and obviously had a lot of pride in what they did and did the best they could with the space that they had. I also noticed that they had a little campaign to help upgrade several systems in the theater which is very badly needed. This time I went to see, Almost Maine. From a technical standpoint, everything was great. I loved the sound technician. Did a great job but the mix of making everything heard but not overbearing. Lighting was well balanced and focused, the stage props were well done, not overbearing. From an artistic standpoint there were a few awkward moments in the show, I was trying to decide if it was the way it was written or challenges the actors were having. I felt like I kept getting Tennessee Williams vibes during the show. Not sure if it was supposed to be that way. Overall, I would highly recommend the show. Great job with the acting and it was well worth my time driving up...
Read moreI brought a group of 11 people from Boise to see Anastasia and everyone loved it. The actors did a great job, the sound was clear, and the show was great. Our only disappointment was not being able to take pictures with the cast members in their costumes after the performance. My kids really wanted pictures with their cousins and uncle who were in the play, but the only character you could take a picture with was Anastasia. While she did a great job, she was not the star of the show for us. I've never been to a show that didn't allow pictures with the performers after the performance so I honored the request to not take pictures during the play. I respectfully request that those who made this decision reconsider. Other than that disappointment at the end, we greatly enjoyed the performance, the theater, and...
