A Stellar Review of The Rusted Spoon A Local Gem That Lives Up to the Hype From the moment you step into The Rusted Spoon, you know you're in for a treat. This isn't just a restaurant; it's a cozy, bustling culinary haven that perfectly blends rustic, down-home comfort with a surprising touch of modern, industrial chic. It's the kind of place where the aroma of perfectly cooked comfort food immediately makes you feel at ease. The Food: Classic Comfort, Elevated Execution The menu at The Rusted Spoon is a delightful journey through classic American comfort food, executed with precision and generous portions. While everything we tried was excellent, a few items truly stood out: The Scone with Honey Butter: Forget everything you think you know about scones—these plate-sized wonders are airy, fluffy, and golden brown, achieving a level of flaky perfection that is truly transcendent. The accompanying honey butter is the ideal, sweet-savory complement. This is an absolute, non-negotiable must-try. The Hash Browns: Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and cooked to an impeccable golden-brown. They are easily some of the best in the area and the perfect sidekick to any breakfast or brunch plate. The Crunchy French Toast (or Monte Cristo): Whether you opt for the famed Crunchy French Toast—a textural masterpiece—or the delightful Monte Cristo sandwich served with a dusting of powdered sugar and a side of homemade jam, the kitchen clearly knows its way around Texas toast and an egg wash. Every dish is served hot, fresh, and brimming with flavor. While the portions are hearty, the focus on fresh, quality ingredients ensures you feel satisfied, not just stuffed. Ambiance and Service The charming decor—a mix of cozy cottage elements and unique, slightly industrial fixtures—creates a warm and incredibly inviting atmosphere. It’s a comfortable, bright spot ideal for a family breakfast, a quick lunch, or a relaxing brunch with friends. What truly seals the deal, however, is the staff. They are attentive, genuinely friendly, and highly efficient, managing the busy crowds with professionalism and a smile. Our coffee cups were never empty, and every request was handled with cheerfulness. It’s this exceptional, welcoming service that truly elevates the entire dining experience. Final Verdict The Rusted Spoon is a culinary treasure that delivers on its promise of delicious, high-quality comfort food in a beautiful setting. It’s the kind of local spot you’ll want to visit again and again. While it can get busy during peak hours (a testament to its popularity!), the wonderful food and stellar service are more than worth the wait. Go for the comfort, stay for the scones, and leave with a smile. Highly, highly recommended! What dish sounds most appealing to you...
Read moreI'll begin by saying that I hate saying anything unsatisfactory about our locally-owned places. And that this is the first time I had chosen to try and be in a sit down restaurant in 2 years because of anxiety. However, I will start with cleanliness, fly strips hanging all over the dining room just every where. The staff was scatterbrained, they were so distracted we were seated in a dirty table. And that's after we were asked to wait so that a table could be cleaned 🤨. After placing our order my husband's food was great.... he received his platter of food, but he had to wait an hour for his toast and then finally just received toast that must have been sitting in the toaster all that time. Cold with very odd looking type butter. I ordered French toast, my only way to even partially enjoy food is texture. (I lost taste and smell 2 years ago due to covid.) I asked for regular French toast... menu offered crunchy and regular. I was given crunchy FT. I wasn't happy about it. But I chose to try it ...... ummm this was not an textual appealing food. The corn flakes become gummy and soggy when fried. After that single bite, I asked for what I ordered. It took an hour for it to come back. My husband was already done with his food. After combating the flies, being grossed out by the excessive amount of fly paper strips hanging. It's just not a place I will ever go. I want to be very clear this is the...
Read moreThe food was terrible. The cook came out to ask why because I was the second person that hour to complain about the dish. My wife’s food had hair in it. As I paid the check and was asked how it was I told them and the girl said “I’ll bet it wasn’t my hair” Save your money and keep driving to the Maddox down the road.
Updated, Not sure how I ended up in this restaurant again but there I was. To start the drinks were terrible the server said the carbonation was out of whack but thought it was ok to just refill them. We asked for chocolate milk and she came back and said it was all spoiled. Then came an appetizer of cheese curds that were cold in the middle. On the second try they got them warm but they were saturated in old fryer oil and tasted awful. Then comes the main dish. Hamburgers all pink in the middle. At this point I remembered this review I had left because the place was so bad. We didn’t eat any of the food but they brought a check anyway. When paying the check I was asked how it was and I told them it was absolutely terrible. I told them everything wrong and he just looked at me and said that’s too bad. I asked if there was a survey I could fill out and he told me no and held his hand out to get paid. Against my better judgment I paid the check anyway. Never again would I step foot in that dive. I can’t believe they are still in business....
