Having been a member of Crux since they first opened its been impressive to see how much more mature the franchise has become over the last 8 years. Crux Pflugerville is their biggest and best offering yet. Kevin, Grace, Ben, and the rest of the Crux team seemingly spared no expense in bringing this place to life, and even though it's still not fully finished it already feels like it is the climbing gym that they always wanted to build. Even if it's not, it's the one I've always wanted to climb at.
Tall walls with a variety of angles, top rope, lead, autobelay, crack climbing, a regulation speed wall, tons of bouldering with a huge selection of angles and brand new holds. Not to mention the dedicated training area, the weight room, a large kids room completely closed off from the rest of the gym to keep the rowdieness (and the fun) contained. A large yoga studio, bathrooms with showers and saunas, dedicated office space (just like the phone rooms you see in most modern office buildings) and even a small meeting room rounds out the amenities. Of course right outside you'll find a food truck and soon to be open a new spokesman coffee shop, means this place won't be lacking for after climbing hangouts either.
If none of that convinces you that this gym is what you've been looking for then don't forget that a membership here currently gets you access to all 3 Crux gyms, giving you access to the largest selection of climbing gyms...
Read moreI have gone once before and my grandson who is 5 had a great time. But we went last weekend and I went around 2 pm. I paid for him to go in they asked if I was part of the birthday party and stated no. I paid and then we went to the children's room and was in there less than 10 minutes and a woman came rudely and stated that it was reserved for a birthday party. I had no clue. I told her I was unaware the room was closed to the public. When we paid they did not state to us that the room was unavailable. I would of come back another day or time. We were about to get rock climb and the worker had already attached my grandson to the ropes and he quickly took it off and stated we needed to leave. I told him since he is already to climb can he go up and down real quick. He never reaches the top. He just goes half way. But he stated no. He stated he can try the outside rock climbing. But he is not comfortable with the bigger ones. I proceeded to the desk to request a refund. The guy could not refund me. He also stated that if i would have looked online that it states there that the room is booked for private events. I have never looked on their website. I told him that when I paid and told them that I was not part of the party that they should of told me then that the room was closed for a birthday party. I would have come back another time. But that a horrible experience. Please tell people that the room is closed...
Read moreI've been a member at Crux for a little over 2.5 years, and couldn't WAIT for the Pflugerville location to open. I've only managed to visit twice so far, but it's definitely worth the extra drive. I thought Crux couldn't get any better, but somehow, with this spot, they achieved perfection. From the yoga studio with the giant windows and a great view, to a huge fitness space, to the combo ropes/bouldering area - it's better than I imagined. Unlike some of the other gyms in town, it's really nice that the rope climbing and bouldering share a space, because some of my buddies only do one or the other - so it's great that we can socialize and root for each other in the same general area despite our preferences.
Some of the same great folks and spirit as the other two locations, just newer, fresher, and maybe a bit more challenging but in a good way!
Check out their yoga and fitness classes - I can definitely vouch for Audrey, Jennifer, and Valerie - can't wait to try more instructors here! Looking forward to climbing here for...
