First Christian Church — Local services in Phoenix

I only went to one service but somehow they side on custody issues with my husband based on his narrative without talking to both parties, grandparents, other parent, or investigating. I will continue to worship the lord in a church that does not take this type of action to participate in legal actions and shun a parent based on one party narratives. Also having kids call the pastor uncle is odd and inappropriate and frankly scary. When I ask about the custody support they are giving for one parent, they switched the story and said they were not the messengers to the other parent, which was not the question. Being that they are supporting the other parent blindly. it was a deflection to not have to discuss the situation that they are supporting. Being they are legally supporting the other parent, they should If they are not involved, they should not cast judgement without knowing enough to take a position and without having an understanding of the history as well with both parties. Taking a position and supporting one parent over another without facts is high risk and is harmful to all involved. It may cause additional harm to those involved especially the children. Also having the parent with such unresolved issues in their family life give divorce and marriage counseling to the congregation on behalf of FCC is scary. This parent has told me that he is responsible for counseling married couples in the church yet tells his wife and daughter the wife is not a child of god. God loves his daughters and I refuse to let this church and man decide that I am not. Although, I can pray and trust that god will have his will in this situation, i am sure that this is. at this time, causing more damage than good, which you can see in the way it has unfolded. My current church does not handle these situations this way and I will continue to call it my home and worship in an environment that is about...

After being a member of various small and mega churches in the valley, FCC PHX to me is very genuine, spiritual and scriptural. I describe it as a contemporary church where everyone is welcomed and can feel at home regardless of your background and standing. Trust me this church welcomes individuals from all walks of life. We are not perfect and that is one of the reasons we come to church to find God and his guidance. The staff at FCC PHX really cares about its members and each other. Pastors get to know you by name and trust me they remember, you are not just a number at this church. Worship services are outstanding and very uplifting. I have always been able to apply every message given throughout the week. I'm sure you have been to some churches where the message is so complicated and complex that you leave confused. I've been going here for almost a year. First and foremost, the preaching is excellent and it is the real gospel. No watered down, prosperity gospel, tiptoeing around the issues here. They teach the truth in love. And perhaps the best part is they have microphones out in the crowd too so people can come up and share. The congregation is more involved in the service overall. The worship is good and not too long if that's something you are worried about. Also they do tons of outreach. I am confident that my tithes and donations are going to good use. Whether it's outreach to the homeless, mission trips, discipleship programs, back to school stuff for the kids, you name it, they are always being a light somehow.
