If you have disposable income for having to get replacement parts then by all means buy from them. Communication also lacks terribly.
I purchased a versa note transmission from them, it was delivered and installed by my mechanic when my original started to slip. When we had questions about an extra part on the transmission we bought from them the owner 'Cam' we talked with via email was fast and responsive saying it's all good and if we had any other issues to reach out.
Once the new transmission was in, my mechanic couldn't even drive it off his property within ten minutes my car was over heating and throwing a code it had not before. I immediately emailed the owner and called the business the next day.
I spoke with someone and had told him what's happening and he asked to have my mechanic call them and if it's a certain code being shown they'd cover it by replacing the transmission. My mechanic called them and called me after and I called back the business and was told it was infact something on the transmission and it would be covered for a replacement and we wouldn't need to send the old one back because it would be pointless.
I was told to call back the next day and he'd try locating another transmission to send. Over the next 4 days I called each day like he told me to and everyday talked to the same person who acted like he didn't know anything about the situation, so I had to explain it every day. He told me he doesn't write anything down.. each day I was told he couldn't get a hold of his Texas store at all and to call the next day and see if he'd find a replacement.
The fifth day I called and was told to call back in three days.. I said no I'm done I want a refund. He then said he would run it by the owner. We had already emailed the owner and had heard nothing back for a week.. he then said "it sounds like you want the part more than the money" YES! I love my car it's my only transportation and I went to all this trouble for the part! He told me I had to send the transmission back to get a refund bc they could use the core..
The owner finally contacted us saying we can have your replacement in from Japan in a week, and we said no, we can't afford paying my mechanic again to replace a transmission.. and he said "we don't cover labor" like no shit.. so far I had paid for the non working transmission (1000+, 800 labor, and another 600 in labor to take the non working one back out) the owner emails and says he will cover shipping back and told us what day it would be picked up.
We called the shipping company and it wasn't even scheduled that day at all!! We scheduled the shipping and sent it back, two months later we were sent a over 300$ shipping bill!
This company cost me my car because they sold me a transmission that was non working from the beginning, gave me a run around in communication, and made me never trust another parts place. My mechanic said "the original transmission i took out was a hell of a lot better than the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI purchased an engine from SunshineStateJDM's website. I was in contact with Adam who was able to work with me to provide compression numbers and allowed me to ask plenty of questions about the engine. He sent me a photo of the engine/wiring/ecu all wrapped up on a pallet. I got as far as scheduling the shipment when he texted me stating that the ECU and wiring harness were no longer included with the purchase contrary to what we discussed in conversation on the phone and contrary to what was in the palletized photo he sent me prior to shipping. When I asked for a reason, he basically stated that he sold the engine too cheap and listings for the engine complete with ECU/harness were $300-$400 more on Ebay. I absolutely could have thrown more money at this purchase but was no longer willing to purchase from a company with such poor business practices. Looking at some of the google reviews, it appears that others have had some lackluster experiences as well. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere.
Response to seller:
To be clear, Iām not angry, just disappointed with my experience. The fact is, I confirmed over the phone that the ECU/harness was included and it was provided in all of the photos leading up to shipping. I was also not offered the ECU and harness at an additional cost, he just stated that it was not going to be sent with the engine. Regardless, it sounds like a mistake was made on your side and hopefully this feedback helps your business operate better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have seen some good reviews but trust me there are bad ones to avoid this company. Avoid them at all cost. It is a gamble. Kam Is the owner and Adam works for him. Like another review, I saw from four years ago. I also got a water logged engine. From the pictures U see below There was a lot of slug and There was also a couple cups of water in the plastic intake. When I called Adam he assured me that it was a solution they Dunk the engines in to clean them off. That was a lie. I am meticulously, cleaned all the sludge out from the intake area until it was clean. Then after I got it running I kept getting the 2646 code. I got about 1000 miles before cylinder 1 let go. Adam was very condescending but then said we would work with you. Then I talked to the boss man Kam. He said that he was send me a new one once I shipped him the old one back at my expense. Once winter ended up here in CT. I pulled motor. Then conveniently Kam was not around. Adam would not answer the phone when he saw me on caller ID. It cost $175 to file a small claims lawsuit for a 800 engine. But I am just going to chalk this up as a loss. But Unfortunately, for them, I am retired so my life goal now will be to take this business down. so people stop getting ripped off. Iām gonna file a compliant with Florida consumer affairs and then Iām going to make a complaint at the Florida Attorney Generalās office. Do yourself and Avoid...
