4/16/24 Update: the main entrance door to access my unit has been broken for over SIX MONTHS. This place charges champagne prices but offers Budweiser services. So ghetto. I'm sure a customer broke it and Extra Space is waiting until they win a 5 year lawsuit to win the money to repair it. Any self respecting company would pay out of pocket to IMMEDIATELY repair the door for it's existing 200+ customers. And by broken I mean it's 100% locked (and probably a fire hazard). So you'll need to access an entrance much farther away. Also, 50% of the carts have ENGINE OIL on them. Why? You're allowed to do auto mechanic repairs in the parking lot and keep your car parts and tools in the units. A guy has been working on a Mack truck for months in the back corner of the parking lot.
Original review: What’s the fastest way to ruin a new storage facility with clean units and new air-conditioning? 1 only provide 7 carts for 200 people to share (Okay, I’m exaggerating, there’s only 4 carts). 2 they raise your rent by 30-50% every 3 months so be prepared to have your rent double. I’ve used various Public storage facilities for 20+ years, and they rarely if ever raised my rent.
On the upside, all the employees I’ve met have been nice and helpful, both in person and on the phone. Storage unit prices are expensive in Florida so I recommend calling around and taking the time to check website as they’re usually accurate and offer 1-2 months free rent. Extra space has much higher prices and it's...
Read more2 1/2 years later when I moved out: Still impressed with this facility. I vacated the unit because I moved to a place that has storage. One glitch was Extra Space tried to raise the rent shortly after I took the unit. I was NOT HAPPY about this and let the company know and was persistent about it. They rescinded the rent increase. Later on, more than a year after I took the unit, they raised the rent and at that point I was OK with a rent increase.
When newly moved into the unit: This is a beautiful new-ish storage facility, the former Coca Cola bottling plant (which ya may see on Google Maps street view). I can't fault a single thing. Mike, the manager showed me around and make sure I could work the access codes, lock (they require a cylinder lock for security, and I had not used one before.) The carts are stationed right next to the entrances, which you reach up gently sloping ramps. Access is available with the entry code from 6 a.m. till 10 p.m. I ended up getting a unit at this facility because it was the best combination of price, location, services, size & shape of unit, climate control, etc. that I could find. Just moved in, but am very...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience with moving into the Extra Space Storage at 2950 Gandy Blvd of St. Petersburg, Florida location on March 26, 2019. Mike the manager greeted me with excellent, professional, and friendly customer service. He was very helpful with all of the questions and concerns I had. His patience is is phenomenal. Although, my day was challenged by another towing company, Mike exceeded my expectations with 5 stars by being caring, understanding, and more so by putting a smile on my face after a fustrating day. Connor, the assistant manager, has also greeted me with very kind, helpful, friendly and professional customer service as well. I see why Extra Space Storage is so well known for their outstanding service today! I love their welcoming atmosphere that seems to light up your day, so much so that I have became a new customer multiple times. I will not go to any other storage but EXTRA SPACE STORAGE from this point on! To top it all off, everything was affordable too! Great job ESS! I WILL GIVE YOU 100% rating and a A+ if I could. YOU TAKE THE HASSLE OUT OF MOVING!!! ❤. ~ Tomeka...
