McIntyre's Books is a remarkable, independent bookseller. Despite its small size when compared to the big guys like Barnes and Noble, they manage to keep a nice supply of current titles on hand. The people who work there are actual readers, not like the chain stores which are staffed with clerks rather than knowledgeable purveyors. One of my favorite features of McIntyre's is that a good percentage of the books are displayed with reviews from staff. So, rather than just reading the book jacket which contains only what the publisher wishes to share with you, you get more insight into the actual contents. Take the time to review Pete's Picks if you're browsing with no particular title or author in mind. You can bet you'll come away with a book you'll be pleased with. The atmosphere is very pleasant and when you interact with the staff you get the feeling you are discussing books with a fellow book lover. Don't expect big discounts like B & N, but the joy in shopping there is well worth...

In late July McIntyre’s Bookstore in beautiful Fearrington Village, hosted me for their weekly story time to share my children’s travel and adventure picture book, Mommy’s Big, Red Monster Truck, with area kiddos. I was so impressed with this gorgeous store and it’s talented and knowledgeable booksellers. McIntyre’s vast selection of books and support of local authors is incredible. It is an exemplary bookstore. All bookshops should strive for this level of excellence. The amazing interactive story time events keep kids engaged and completely inspired. Most definitely one of the BEST bookstores I’ve ever visited. Not to mention it is located on the gorgeous grounds of Fearrington Village that include a farm with livestock, restaurants and shops....

Pete Monk, the buyer, shares his time and enthusiasm for interesting, enlightening and entertaining books with us. This charming bookstore has books for diverse interests and readers of all ages.
