When we got there, the boy at the cashier said we were welcomed to sample any of the apples from the tree. So silly me for assuming that this place was organic. So we did that, and then we walked past a shed with a huge sign 'pesticides, keep out.' When we went to pay, I asked the girl if the apples are organic and she literally said 'I don't know what that means.' Seriously!? How do you not know what that means when you work in the food industry? Then she says 'They are sprayed.' So she knew what that meant but didn't want to say it. And thank you NOT for telling me that I can sample the apples from the tree which have not been washed so we can ingest the unknown pesticides. I'm not getting on this place because it's not organic but I'm getting on it because they were telling us to basically eat the unwashed apples and then acting like they didn't know what...

We came here quite late in the season, but still managed to pick a few good apples from their apple farm, and even scored several good ones that have fallen to the ground. However, this review is solely based on the hospitality of the staff here. They were giving hands-on demos for their apple peeler/slicer and let the kids try it out. It was a hit, and the staff is so friendly. Of course, we bought the peeler/slicer and received our bag of apples for free because of it! You must also try their amazing cider sauce and their apple pie a la mode... YUM! Do yourself a favor and skip the busy roads and long lines at some of those advertised orchards. Get the true u-pick apple...

We had such an incredible experience at Denver Dan's! I'd never gone apple picking before, but they made it easy with provided pails and a top down map of the farm with each part of the orchard labeled so we knew exactly what we were picking. The man there was so nice and helped us choose which apples to go out and pick based on what we wanted to make with them. It seemed like we may have gotten there too early for some of the trees (we were there in late September), but we managed to pick two buckets of gravenstein, gala, and fuji apples that made the most delicious pies! We'll definitely be...

@applehillofficial has been on my Bay Area bucket list for some time but I didn’t know much about it. Now that we made a trip there, I know it’ll become an annual tradition for us! Apple Hill is a collection of over 50 farms in Placerville and Camino. Many farms are open almost every day of the year but fall time is their most popular with apples and Christmas trees. Use their official app (Apple Hill) to read about each farm and see details for what they are currently offering. We visited three this trip: @highhillranch_applehill is known for being the largest and most visited. Go for shops, food, pony rides, fishing and more. Denver Dan’s is where we went for some real apple picking. When we went (beginning of November) there were still over 30 varieties to pick from. $2.50/lb. They had the nicest owners. @rainbow_orchards_ca is known for their Hot Apple Cider Donuts. You won’t want to miss these. Get there early! We went around 9am and had no traffic getting in but by 11am there were lines of cars for High Hill. Official season ends at the end of November. Other recommendations: Abel’s Apple Acres- Children’s Field of Fun @delfinofarms- Famous Walkin’ Pie Fudge Factory Farm- Kids play area and animals Hidden Star Camino- Kids town and mini caramel apples 24 Carrot Farm- U-pick flowers Let us know your favorite farms and tips below ⬇️
