We have been customers of Oakland nursery for a while now. We have been very good customers for the past 2 seasons spending around $2000.00 on various plants and bushes. Very friendly, eager to assist with questions and very thorough when checking out and explaining their plant warranty/guarantee to you with a smile while stapling your receipt to the green warranty paper.
This year we purchased 53 boxwood and about a month later, we bought 2 mr. bowling ball bushes amongst various other plants… out of the 53 boxwood, 3 died, 1 on its last legs. 1 of the 2 bowling ball bushes that are planted within 8 feet of each other, turned brown and crispy literally overnight. We decided to uproot the plants and get it taken care of under the warranty that they do proudly tout upon checkout.
We were pointed to the customer service desk where a lady requested assistance over the radio to get our bushes looked at. A man with a very angry look on his face appeared, did not introduce himself, asked us if we watered the bushes, accused us of not planting the bushes, lectured us further on watering, specifically remarking “there is no substitute for water”. My wife and I felt like we were criminals. I told him that we were not trying to get something for nothing and further TRIED to explain that out of 53 boxwood, 4 of them died but the rest are thriving, also TRIED to explain that mr bowling balls neighbor is fine as well, he did not want to hear it, just wanted to give us his angry attitude and nasty remarks. He snapped at the woman at the desk an order and stormed away with no further word to us. My wife asked the woman at the desk if he is always this rude and she went on to defend his actions and also did not want to listen and understand that 49 of our boxwood are in good health. My wife mentioned how much we have spent there just to illustrate that out of all that we have bought, 5 plants did not survive and was told that it doesn’t matter how much you have spent, again, not the point.
To wrap it up, we still love the selection and prices at Oakland in New Albany, however, due to the treatment and rudeness of the man, assuming manager or owner, again, he did not even bother to introduce himself, we will think long and hard before shopping with this...
Read moreOakland Nursery performed an large landscaping project for our new home build about 2.5 years ago, including softscape, hardscape, limestone buffs, retaining walls, etc. They did great work, and replaced plants, bushes and trees as needed under warranty without question. This spring it became apparent that I had an issue with my intricate and complex drainage system, which includes 15 downspouts and four catch basins throughout the rear and front yards. A system that taking all house and yard runoff water to a storm drain at the road. I noticed that I had two downspouts turning into gysers, and overflow/reverse water flow out of one of my catch basins in the rear yard. We discovered that when the retaining wall was installed during the project, that our drainage system was damaged (preventing flow to the street) and not fixed correctly by the team who installed our retaining wall. Upon calling Oakland over 2.5 years after the project was completed, we sent an email with several photos documenting the issue, we had a supervisor named Dave call me immediately to set up an onsite meeting with the owner's son. Both were great, listening to the issue, acknowledging the problem, apologizing for any inconvenience, and setting up a plan to remedy the problem. Oakland was out within a week, excavated the area, and fixed my system better than the original. Oakland stood behind their name, fixed the problem without question or push back, and did this all under warranty work with no cost to me as the customer. Over two years later. In times like these with trades who don't stand behind their work, this entire experience rejuvenated my faith that some companies really do the right thing. It says a lot about a company's moral fiber in doing the right thing for their clients. Not many landscaping companies would have stood behind their work like Oakland Nursery did for us. In addition, the site was left super clean, graded and seeded to establish new grass over the area of repair. A big thank you to Oakland Nursery and the great employees who make your company what it is today. I would highly recommend using...

Gardening is my happy place. But today I parked on the side walked up to an employee on the side of the building who was pretending to water flowers but she was actually texting on her phone she saw me approaching her she turned completely around with her back facing me and continued texting I went on with my shopping couldn't find what I was looking for sorry went inside to the service desk stood there for about 10 minutes while the girl behind the service counter was chatting with two other employees so after 10 minutes I said could you help me she said what do you want with a very bad attitude I said I'm sorry are you busy, and she said again with an attitude what do you want I asked to speak to a manager she said she was the manager and continued to be rude I asked another lady there that spoke English she had the same attitude I wound up walking out of the store and I will never walk back in I wonder how many people have to stop shopping in your store before you realize you have bad customer service most of the people working there don't speak English don't know about the flowers and don't want to help you I was not the only customer that experienced this today there were two women in the parking lot talking about the same thing I will not ever walk back into an Oakland Nursery store there are plenty of places to...
