Anime Stuff Store — Local services in Plainfield

BUYER BEWARE: As stated by several reviewers, the prices at this store are TOO HIGH. I understand the whole "trying to make a profit" concept , but there is no reason to charge 300+ dollars for figures that you can get elsewhere (directly from supplier sites) for under 150. While I was excited to see these things with my own eyes, I was immediately disappointed knowing I would never actually be able to get anything from that store and would have to order online from other retailers.

That being said, not everything in there is crazy overpriced. Some things are priced okay, but I strongly recommend that you bring more money than you think you need.

The staff was very friendly and they definitely had a much larger selection than other stores I've been to, so thats a plus. They also have a computer for you to locate more of their stock, as they can't fit all their inventory out on the floor.

I do wish this store was located in a better place. It's tucked away and hidden in an industrial area, and that nearly made me turn around and go back home, as I believed the store was not actually where it said it was.

In the end, it was but also wasn't worth driving two hours to get there. I didn't leave empty handed, but I do wish I could have purchased more.

I would also like to add that I have been an avid figure collector for over ten years and am very knowledgeable on suppliers, distributors, makers, sculptors, and the like. I can spot a counterfeit immediately. If you are really questioning authenticity, yes this shop is on the mark. However, once again, pricing is questionable on most (not all) of the merchandise. Bought a couple figures from this place at Anime Midwest 2021. One figure came with a manufacturer error. Reached out to them and within 3 days they were apologetic and understanding and replaced my figure no problem. They even gave me a coupon for the next time. This is a hidden gem in Illinois and Chicagoland area. Not only was the owner super chill but the store itself is high quality. They display their products in glass display cases and shelves with clear labels and prices. And if they don’t the staff is highly enthusiastic and willing to help. Some other reviewers state they didn’t like how the staff hovered. Personally for me, I only had about one or two members come up and ask me if I needed anything from the shelves. I would only consider this to be great customer service. I also love that they clearly are anime lovers themselves. Some figures that are higher end I would say may be $20-30 over priced but if you take into consideration how most of these figures you have to pay for import shipping if you were to online shop, it basically evens out overall. For right in your face figure shopping with guaranteed authenticity (which is not typical in my opinion) it’s pretty awesome. I have been an anime figure collector for 5+ years living in Chicago and I can say whole heartedly I have never been to a anime shop quite like this in the city/suburbs. Pretty small anime store with very friendly staff just having a good time while working there! They've got a big selection despite the small space they have to where you'll walk the same areas a couple of times and find something new. Tons of Keychains of various sizes for the most part sorted by series, from the bigwigs of pokemon to smaller lesser known ones like ichigo mashimaro. Blind boxes, a corner of a multitude of plushies, display case with several Anime figures! Said they carry cosplay items as well but I only saw wigs and the AOT survey corps cape everyone and their grandmother already has (website has significantly more cosplay items!)
