We appreciate that there's a Thai place within close proximity and we really wanted to love the food, but it didn't hit the mark.
Pad Thai - It was way too sweet. Pad Thai varies, so I understand that not everyone does it the same, but this was off. I prefer that it has fresh bean sprouts and the crushed peanuts on top, but it's OK if it's not presented like that. But even the lime wedges were mixed into the dish instead of on the side, which was weird. Why not present it nicely instead of throwing everything into a wok?
Pad See Ew - Also not very good. The slices of Chinese broccoli (I think?) had a weird color and were unappealing - I didn't even want to try it. I usually love Chinese broccoli. This was my wife's dish and she is pretty forgiving but she said she didn't like it.
Cucumber Salad - Was fine, though I prefer sliced cucumber instead of chunks, but I won't fault them for that.
I think they need to try hard to increase the quality and put more care into making it special. These do not taste or look like dishes from people passionate about serving delicious Thai food.
We got takeout. It is a clean, nice restaurant. I am curious if their curry is good, but I don't think my wife will let us go back unless we hear that they're improving their dishes. I'll give 4 stars because I think they have potential and I don't have the heart to give less to a...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chai Thai couple times and I must say, it's one of the best Thai experiences I've had. The restaurant offers a warm, cozy atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. Had to write a review!
Now, the food. Wow! Every dish was bursting with authentic flavors. We started with the Wonton Soup, * Crab Rangoon* and Spring Roll .
For mains, we ordered the Penang Curry * *Drunken Noodle and Thai Fried Rice *. The *Drunken Noodle was a good combination of soft flat noodles with sweet and tang. The Penang Curry was rich and creamy.Thai Fried Rice is my favorite. The most important point for me was chicken was of good quality and it didn’t have a bad taste like you experience in other restaurants.
One thing that stood out was the portion sizes — generous and great value for money. We left feeling completely satisfied. For dessert, we couldn’t resist the Mango Sticky Rice which was the perfect ending to an exceptional meal. The ripe, sweet mango alongside the sticky rice and coconut cream was absolutely divine. Banana spring roll was delicious.
If you're a fan of authentic Thai food or even if you're new to the cuisine, Chai Thai is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return and explore more...
Read moreWe happened to be in Plainfield last Saturday and found this restaurant on Yelp as a last minute dinner choice, called them and they were able to save a table forget us (party of 7). It’s a cute, sunny little restaurant in a strip mall with plenty of parking. The owner (I assume he’s the owner) was gracious and seems happy. We ordered fried calamari, two different pad see ewes, Tom yum soup, Thai spicy basil pork, fantasy fried rice with cashew, panang curry, yum soon sen salad. The fried calamari was Ok - it was probably my least favorite but the kids ate it all. Maybe it’s from a box? The batter seemed thick. Every other dish I found enjoyable..the freshness, the textures, balance of flavors, all seemed authentic. I liked the complexity of flavors with yum soon sen. Tom yum soup needed more sourness. The pad see ewe noodles had a nice smoky/char flavor. The kids loved the pad see ewe and the fried rice. The spicy dishes had a kick but were not too spicy. If possible, I would only take off half a star for value. Prices are on the higher side for the small quantity - $15 per dish plus $2 for meat. Otherwise service was prompt...
