I had a weird (but ultimately good) experience with Modholic. I ordered one of the eero dupe tables Friday, August 2nd. The website said it shipped same-day if ordered before 2PM on a business day, but since I ordered after 2PM I assumed I would get a shipping update on Monday the 5th. By Thursday the 8th, I hadn’t received any sort of update and was starting to get anxious (we’re in a new place, with no surfaces to sit and work or eat at). I emailed them and received an email back from Kevin almost immediately saying my table was back ordered for 3 weeks and would process when they got it back in stock. Keep in mind, I’d already waited almost a week, so I was looking at a month wait before I even got a shipping update. I emailed back and said I was bummed but needed to cancel if it was going to be that long.
I got another response, from Mike - directed to “Linda” (my name is Lindsey) saying that Kevin was confused and they had a table reserved for me that would be going out within the next 48 hours. To be honest, I was feeling trepidatious about the whole thing. I hadn’t done a lot of reading reviews before I ordered the table (my bad) because we were trying to get moved into a new place and get a lot of things set up and ordered. Once I started reading reviews, I saw reports of tables arriving broken, or missing pieces, etc. I let the weekend pass and hadn’t gotten any shipping email. Finally by Tuesday, I was ready to just email and cancel the order, feeling frustrated and anticipating having to file a dispute with my bank. When I sat down to write the email - I finally had a shipping confirmation in my inbox, backdated saying it had been shipped on Friday the 9th.
Decided to just leave it be and see if/when it showed up how things stood. The base and table top arrived separately which wasn’t super clearly communicated to me that they would be. The base arrived Friday the 16th, the tracking number I had said it would arrive Monday the 19th so I assumed the top was still en route.
The base is super sturdy, and arrived well packed, in pristine condition - no dents, scratches, or issues.
This morning, Monday the 19th, the table top arrived. It was equally well packed and in pristine condition. Assembly was a breeze, took us less than 10 minutes and it’s beautiful.
Their communication could definitely use some work, being mindful of people’s names, communicating backordered products on their website clearly, and I would’ve had more peace of mind if I’d received a shipping update with a number on Friday the 9th, even if it wasn’t track-able yet. But I suspect the shipping is actually a partner software that they don’t have a lot of control over.
Ultimately, I was very happy with my purchase. It’s a beautiful, sturdy table. My recommendation if you’re going to order from modholic is to make sure you read over their return/Cancellation/returned item policies and go into it with your eyes open. 17 days from purchase to delivery is absolutely acceptable, though, and if it had been communicated better I would’ve been entirely content to wait for such a nice table. Excited to get lots of...
Read moreI ordered several pieces of furniture on August 26th. It is September 30th and I have yet to receive them. The modholic website says all the right things about customer service, unique shopping experience, we value your feedback, you should have your items in about a week. ITS ALL LIES….UM…I mean marketing.
It took a week for me to even get tracking information. Then another week for any updates to the location. E-mails to the company take about 5 days for a short, not very helpful response. The delivery company gave me a 4 hour window on a weekday when no one was available to accept the package so I had to wait until the following week. The delivery day came with my 4 hour window….11:30-3:30pm. That time comes and goes. No furniture. I call around 4pm and was told I was stop 19 they are on 16. Not sure how much longer maybe an hour or two?? I get a call a few minutes later and expect it to be the driver but no its the dispatch again telling me its not coming at all. Its 4:30pm but I get the excuse that they have to stop delivering because the department of labor only lets them work so many hours. WHAAAT??? I now have a delivery scheduled for this Saturday and am told I'm the 2nd stop.
Now after reading google reviews, which I should have done before ordering, I see I need to look out for missing parts that will never be replaced among other things. Based on my experience with customer service I can definitely see that being a problem. There is no customer service. I will have to resort to stopping payment with my credit card, nasty reviews, contact BBB and attorney general.
Hopefully, everything will arrive on Saturday and be great.
*Update 10/2021 I finally received my order on the second delivery day attempt. Two of the boxes were opened and the others looked like they'd been tossed around. There was very little packaging and most the boxes were damaged. The furniture was ok, no shipping damage. I'm mostly happy with the products. Beware of sizes though...the chair and end table are the size of children's furniture. More decorative than something you would actually sit in or put a full size lamp on. The dining room table is ok but the chairs are small. A larger person would not fit and I'm not sure the chair could take much weight. Get your tape measure out and verify sizes when ordering online. In the description for the end table it says it would be good to store a blanket but the only blanket that would fit is a baby blanket.
Even though I'm happy with most of the furniture and got it eventually I would never order from this company again. There are pieces I would normally return (ie.things presented as adult furniture that belong in a child's room). I'm not going to return them because I have to pay for return shipping plus I don't want to continue to deal with this terrible business and get an endless run around about getting a refund. I prefer to do business with places that really care about there customers satisfaction. No furniture is worth all the BS I had to deal with for...
Read moreAdorable, reasonably price furniture. But that's it...the customer service is beyond dreadful and absolutely not worth the hassle. Placed an order on 5/28. 6/4, still hadn't heard if it had been shipped (and nothing said the shipment would be delayed or whatnot). It took me 2 days to finally get a hold of anything in customer service. Their excuse was that they had over-sold their inventory and were waiting on a new shipment to come on 6/16 (why they didn't communicate that right away and waited for me to contact them, I'll never know). So, on 6/17, I again attempted to contact customer service to see if the chairs had arrived. They didn't answer my email, and using their chat function, they said to contact them 6/18 during different hours. I did, and they told me they were too busy to respond. Mind you, they took the money out of my account for the chair the day I placed the order......
Update: After I originally posted this on 6/18, I received a call from customer service (Mike) at 1203 angry at me for posting a negative review. He insisted the chair delivery had arrived to the warehouse and that they would be going out by the end of this week. He looked up my zip code and told me that I should receive it by the end of next week. But then, he insisted that I remove the negative review saying that I was hurting business and that it was my fault for not calling customer service--that they don't use messenger (despite me having received a message from them on 6/6 telling me to email customer service). He then said that emails were backlogged....but I had been told by their customer service email was acceptable in the first place!! So, they can't manage their inventory, they can't communicate effectively, and they get rude and belligerent with me for reviewing them as such??? The fact is, they couldn’t be bothered to call and tell me that they were out of stock and had mismanaged their inventory. They couldn’t call and tell me that a new shipment had arrived and mine would be arriving shortly. But they can call to demand that I remove my review despite the fact my review is an entirely honest summary of my interaction with this company. And I think that that fact alone says everything you need to know about what customers mean to Modholic.
So, I took down this review on the 18th because I was honestly scared that leaving it up would result in them not sending my order. But, now that I have received it, I am sharing my experience in hopes of dissuading others from going through the nightmare I just did.
His promise of me receiving it 6/26 didn't happen either. They prepared my shipping on 6/22, but didn't actually give it to fed ex until 6/25.
When it arrived today (6/29), the quality was poor. The measurements aren't the same as those provided on the website, parts don't align or fit well, and two pieces on the bottom of the chair base that are supposed to screw into base were snapped off. So, after a month of fighting and $100+, I received a useless lump of...
