May 11, 2024, around 4 o'clock, I had a disheartening experience with the Aquatic Center plano. I walked into the center with my white out of state female cousin and her mixed children. The young white brunette female behind the counter asked her how many was she paying for, gave her the total, and sent her on. I approached the counter directly behind my white female cousin (I'm black) and said I'm paying for two. The white young lady behind the counter asked me am "I a Plano resident," and I said, " Yes." She then asked me,"Can I see your ID?" My cousin removes her ID from her wallet while I'm looking and asks the lady, "Oh, did you need to see mine?" The cashier says,"OH, no, you are fine." I said " I don't mind showing you my ID, but it doesn't have my updated address on it." The cashier said," Oh well, what's your zip code?" I provided her with my zip code, and then she allowed me to pay and go into the facility. I'm not one to jump to conclusions because I have white family members, married a white man, and have a mixed child. However, I know that I was targeted. I would also like to add I hosted my daughters birthday party at this location a couple of weeks prior. If this wasn't racially motivated, she made it appear that way. I would love to hear from someone in management regarding...
Read moreGreat pool with great coaches. My recent observation is, not all the coaches are putting their best effort to teach. After you put so much effort to find slot, keep kids in waiting list, enroll them and , take kids all the way, some times It's very disappointing. Few details below Pool Cleanlyness is really great Changing / Wash rooms, Parking space, seating at front office, next to pool and out side of the pool really great. Most of the coaches are really trained well and they put their best effort To be improved: a) when give a feedback to Kids and if I enroll them again in the same with no Gap, I'm not seeing that they focus on earlier feedback and teach from there b) Now days one side small kids are learning, right next them swim therapy classes are going for adults which disturbing Kids and lot of waves coming towards Kids and they are not able to perform. I feel you should avoid this through better planning. I don't mean say it's wrong but scope for better planning c) Till date I have never seen any coach asking for previous sessions feedback ( one of my Kid repeated 3rd level 3 times, repeating 4th level 2nd time and my son repeated 4th level 2 times ) and teach kids from there. Finally I feel that little more attention to correct these minor concerns will help...
Read moreA little disappointed in the lack of communication with visitors. My daughter and I walked in about 4:30 and I didn't realize they closed at 5. We are visiting Plano and majority of the splash pads and local pool I saw online closed at 9, so I didn't think to double check the closing time. Either way, we got in the pool finally and about 15 mins later asked to get out because private lessons were beginning and the pool was closing at 5. It's disappointing that the girl at the front desk didn't give me the courtesy as a visitor (which I expressed in the beginning that I was) to inform me that I'd have only a half hour. I'm charged an admission although I'm not swimming but rather watching my child swim. That's no biggie except the fact that it lasted less than a half hour. So note to self, check times and note to staff, unplug your face from your desktop and communicate, engage and inform your patrons of such things.
Overall, from the short time I was there, the facilities were well kept, very nice and the pool staff were nice and assisting unlike the front...
