I certainly hope that this is a one off. I purchased a flat of strawberries to support a school sports team. When the strawberries arrived they looked pretty, even the white collar around the top. To bad they were Not Ripe. They were hard, hollow and a disappointment in general. Even cutting them up, adding sugar and allowing it to work for a few hours....they were still hard, green tasting sugar coated something. Even the ones that were red all over, looked ripe....still had the oddest texture and no sweetness. Like they were picked completely green and gased to ripen, color wise anyway.
