This is a family owned and operated business. They've been around since 1948 and multiple generations have been at the helm over the years. This is like walking into a time warp. First time I was here was a some 40+ years ago and about the only things that have changed is the produce (it's all very fresh and the selection changes with the seasons) and the water and firewood used in making boiled peanuts and the big metal barrels used to boil said peanuts. It's wonderful. The boiled peanuts are fantastic. Cooked just enough and not over salted. They have 3 huge metal barrels outside over partially open wood fires dedicated to boiled peanuts. Read morePaid $40 for 2 flats of strawberries. Have cleaned 1 flat and bagged the ones that weren't molding in the bottom of the flat and was left with a quart and a half. I literally paid $20 for a quart and a half of edible strawberries. If you buy berries here make sure you look at them very very close and that they are not rotten in the bottom of the flat. The loose berries is the second flat after draining i have not sorted yet and as you can see there is going to be a bunch of loss here too. Will take the time to drive into plant city and go to Parksdale next time, i got lazy and it cost me.
