It was my first time golfing in Daytona, and unfortunately, it was such a negative experience that I no longer feel comfortable golfing in this area. Within the first 15 minutes of our round, a staff member approached our group and accused us of stealing bags for the range balls—even though we had already returned them to another staff member. We politely explained this, but he continued to follow us for the first four holes. He even got into an argument with one of my friends, who is a member and was simply trying to coach me. This staff member also rushed us saying there were groups behind us when my group was 15 minutes ahead of pace, and would let smaller groups play through us to avoid any hold ups as we were a slightly larger group.
After that, the staff member left, only to return 10 minutes later to accuse us of not paying to play. We showed him our receipts, yet he continued to yell at us, making everyone feel extremely uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Later, when we went to the restaurant, he showed up again. My friend who had argued with him earlier attempted to apologize and deescalate the situation, but the staff member continued speaking loudly enough for other patrons to overhear.
One of the patrons even came over and scolded us for not turning in our golf carts early so the staff could go home—even though it was only 4:30 PM and there were still groups playing on the course. It was one of the strangest and most disrespectful experiences I’ve ever had. We found ourselves trying to understand what could have possibly justified this treatment. At one point, we even wondered if it could have been racially motivated, as we were the only ethnic minority group playing that day.
Overall, it was the worst experience of my life. I will never return, and I’ll likely continue golfing in Orlando, where mutual respect is...
Read moreI personally will not be going back to this golf course. Had 2 new people golfing with me and we decided to play best ball and have a good time golfing but around hole 11 was rudely interrupted by one of the staff members. He was accusing me of lying when I told him that the club house guy and first golf ranger on the day said we could use 2 sets of clubs. If we were told we could not to begin with that we couldn't use 2 sets of clubs we would have rented clubs. But we were told we could go ahead and play, so don't appreciate being rudely interrupted from playing golf. Only to be told I was lying and then he proceeded to ask the club house guy, to which he came back ans said we shouldn't have been allowed out. Then I stated sorry but since we were already over half way through we should be good to continue. He said I guess and told us that this will never happen again. & I can tell you what, it won't happen again because I won't pay to golf there ever again. Absolutely rude, worst part is before he drove off I said I won;t be golfing here again and he said good we don't want you too. Just wow man, unbelievable how some people are and he was only guy rude on course. No one behind us complained about us and we let anyone golfing faster go ahead of us. First time golfing again after a whole year & being treated as I was just unreal. So definitely don't recommend this place, good luck to new players to golf because my group stated they won't be golfing after that experience. Which is too bad because they were liking it up until that staff member...
Read moreI started here as a beginner with my son, Danny, who, at the age of 13, decided to take up golf. Well, he was a natural. I, on the other hand needed help. On Saturday’s they had group lessons. They were very informative and an actual golf pro worked with us all. Rod Perry, Crane Lakes Golf Pro, also worked with us during the lessons. His history in golf is quite amazing. You should look him up and see for yourself. You also couldn’t beat the price. The course itself is beautiful. It can be a bit tricky even for the best of golfers, just fine for intermediate golfers and as a beginner it was quite manageable because I wasn’t trying to hit the ball 250 yards....lol. This place welcomes all, even young children. Lessons are also available for children. The pro shop has an array of clothing for both men and woman, hats, gloves, golf clubs, and basically everything you would need for a great day of golf. There is also a Club House that has great food and a full bar. I highly recommend Crane Lakes for vacationers as well as for locals. 5 stars is...
