Update: a couple of months after the refusal to refund my mom's deposit I received a call from the newest director of Acadia. I was told they wanted to refund the deposit. I was very happy they decided to correct the previous unethical business practice. I had hoped to move my mom to Acadia living when her current facility appeared to be unable to care for her anymore. I met with staff and it first everything seemed fine. I gave them a deposit of $4,000. The following day my mother was admitted to the hospital and it was determined she would not have to move from her current facility. I contacted Acadia immediately and asked for a refund of my deposit. I was told they do not refund deposits and that was in the literature they had handed me as I left the facility the previous day. No one had made clear to me or refusal to refund deposits or I would never have given them that deposit. It took two weeks of numerous phone calls and emails during which time the executive director was changed two times to finally be refunded only half of the deposit. I had not been made aware at the time I gave the deposit that it was non-refundable for any reason during any time frame or I never would have made such a huge deposit.. All other facilities I had talked to always would refund your deposit if notified within 30 days I thought this was very unethical and poor business practice. Always make sure that the marketing/ sales person goes over every item in their packet with you to ensure everyone is clear on whether deposits are refundable, if they accept Medicaid and the services they will provide. I was too trusting thinking that they would work in our...
Read moreI want to thank the outstanding staff at Arcadia Senior Living in Portland. On very short notice we needed to find a place for my sister and brother-in-law that could accommodate their needs. The Arcadia team, lead by Mercedes, did an outstanding job of helping us secure the perfect unit for them and when my sister needed to move in before their apartment was ready they had a solution. Unfortunately, just before she moved in she was placed on Hospice. While only at Arcadia a few weeks I know the staff provided her with tremendous care. They updated me regularly and showed tremendous love, compassion, and care. I will be forever grateful to them for their care. The facility is terrific, the residents seem genuinely happy and well cared for, and I know there is a tremendous sense of love for their residents. Thank...
Read moreMy mother moved to Arcadia Senior Living over three years ago. We have come to very much appreciate Arcadia Senior Living because the staff there really care about about the residents. This is true of all the employees there, from the housecleaners to the administrators. Everyone pitches in with kindness and patience. At one point a couple of things slipped through the cracks, and we talked with the upper administration. They started the conversation by telling us how much they loved my mother! And that everyone else did, too. Then they listened to our concerns and worked to ameliorate things. This has really built trust with us and this is also why we helped my father and his wife move in when they needed more levels of care more recently. This is essentially a good place for all of them and we're grateful to...
