My husband wanted to ride his Harley to Mexico for his 60th birthday. We had camped at Big Bend National park but could only stay 2 nights at Rio Grande Village. I found Presidio Lodge & DASP on TripAdvisor and liked the review. This RV park has full hookups and Craig gave us a deal for $22 a night. Parked on top of the Mesa, we could view the border crossing to judge the best time to go. Since the line crossing back to Texas was long, we rode the Harley on the River Road to Study Butte then turned around. We stopped at Terlingua Ghost Town which is about 5 miles from Study Butte. Old mining town from the early 1930's. Several scenic stops of views of Rio Grande River, then had a drink with the mayor of Laquita, Clay Henry (a billy goat). The bike ride took about 6 hours. The line at border crossing was short so we rode on to Mexico. We parked the bike at a grocery store and walked several blocks to a church square where there was a young lady celebrating her first Communion, several stalls selling shoes & clothes, and a vendor selling churros. Then we crossed the street and had a huge banana split. We had a great time and my husband enjoyed his birthday. Presidio Lodge is clean, customer service great, and central located. We'll...
Read moreCraig and Denisse have new cottages and several vintage trailers available to rent by the night, week, or month. They also offer 15 full hookup RV sites. All are located atop a flat mesa overlooking Presidio, with views of Ojinaga, Mexico and the border crossing in the distance. Sunsets are spectacular from up here.||||There are miles of 2-track roads to explore on foot, motorcycle, or 4WD. Gas and diesel, auto parts, repair shops, banking, and restaurants/cafes are just minutes away from the RV park. ||||Gravel RV sites are level and offer sewer, 50/30/20 amp service, and freshwater. Each has a picnic table. These are back-in sites only, as there is no other way to arrange a group of RVs so everybody gets a good view of the valley below. ||||This is a small, quiet RV park and lodge, with reasonable prices and friendly hosts. It is not a luxury resort such as is located in nearby Lajitas. Everything is new and works great. They host groups of Jeep enthusiasts, motorcycle riders staging for the crossing into Mexico's Copper Canyon, and snowbirds looking for a quiet place that is warm. Presidio has not yet had a freezing night this winter,...
Read moreI used this Park or whatever you wanna call it twice now, I'm quite happy with it. It is really basic, one restroom with one shower but clean. If you come in check at the office if someone is around, mostly not, try to call the phone, if no one answers go find a site you like. Most sites have electric but almost no have water, seems to be shut down except for the permanent residents. The sites along the road are very loud especially during the night with the trucks coming down the hill with the unmuffled EB on, the east side sites are much quieter. There is nothing else available here, no shop, no Nonsens, basic site for the night. I'll come back if I'm in the area again. Oh, the owner is a very friendly and helpful guy, we...
