Bernie's General Store — Local services in Quincy

Most hole-in-the-walls nowadays aren't that hidden because they come up in every search, but Bernie's General Store was truly a random find because it only came up once during my research for local gems. This is a convenience store, but there is also a small kitchen inside serving up subs and fried foods, among other things, which is what I came for.

Atmosphere: The inside is quite run-down. Cash only, with an ATM inside, or pay a credit card fee. Free street parking.

Service: The person who rung me up was friendly but can't say the same for the person who cooked, as she wasn't very welcoming and just tossed the sub to me once it was done.

Food: I ordered a small steak bomb for $9.50. It took a little less than 10 minutes to prepare. There was plenty of steak, along with mushrooms, green bell peppers, and cheese on a roll. Overall, it tasted average; there wasn't anything extraordinary about it that would be difficult to replicate at home, so it's not worth going out of your way for these subs. I had heard about the breakfast sandwiches at Bernie's and decided to go in there today. I ordered an egg, cheese and bacon on a croissant, Colleen toasted the croissant without me even asking her to, now that's a girl who knows how to make a fantastic breakfast sandwich. It was hands down the best breakfast sandwich i have ever had, they even give you two eggs, I will definitely be going back there.
