I went into my first Dollar General about this time last year and found out rather quickly that although I thought they were a store that would sell any item in the floor for $1.00 or less that they do have several prices for a lot more than $1.00. You might be thinking that's not a good thing but fact of the matter is that it is a good thing since they will not have to stick with a bunch of worthless junk in the store and can carry a better selection of products. With there being no regular grocery stores in Salem now the Dollar General has helped to make purchases of some things although not alleviating the draught of food supply to the area. Unfortunately though because of that the last couple times I have noticed an almost full parking lot and lots of kids running around the store. Sale signs didnt come up, for explain a case of water sale sig said $3.95 but it rang up $5.00 & there was such a long line behind me I could not go back & show the cashier the sign. I also left a dozen eggs in the store, instead of bringing them out to me the cashier just put them back on shelf. The manager must be too good to work because she’s never there and it’s just regular employees running the store on power trips since they have nobody managing them. The shelves are never stocked, it’s dirty, the employees are either rude or seem high and turn over rate is outrageous by the time you get used to a face they’re gone.
