I just wanted to take a minute to give you some feedback regarding my experience at MIDTOWN CROSSINGS, but I have to also give you some background as well.
I lived on long island in NY, and worked in Manhattan , my wife and I have been longing to get back to triangle for a few years now. An opportunity arose, and I jumped on it, but it required me to start work training in Atlantic city, NJ for 2 months starting in February. I chose to take the leap. I finished training in April 2017, and headed to Raleigh on my own , without my family (my wife has professional obligations) and stayed with a friend , prepared to be there for weeks, maybe months,
I strolled into midtown crossings and Mr. Josh gave me a tour. The apartment, and community matched everything we were looking for. He expedited the process so that I wouldn't wear out my welcome crashing at my friends place,
Shortly after I got here, my wife received some bad news about one of my dogs (who are still with her in NY) the vets up in NY were simply playing on her heartstrings, trying to milk her for all the $ they could. Knowing that NC state has one of the best vet schools in the country, I advised her to come down and get a second opinion.
Things didn't work out. We had to put winnie down. My wife was a total mess. She could barely function. We do not have biological children, our dogs are our kids.
The love, support and compassion we received from the team here, completely blew me away. I have spent the last 10 years living up and down the east coast (I am a corporate restaurant manager) and I have lived in many apartment complexes. A few , I have called home, but not one have i ever considered FAMILY.
The day we put winnie down, I had to go to the office for a question, and Joshua asked about the situation. I lost control of my emotions, and he hugged and consoled me as if he had been a friend for years.
Later in the day, I went to do laundry at the community Laundromat. There was a MMIDTOWN BBQ taking place. David (of maintenance) heard from josh about my families loss and had made a plate of burgers, hot dogs, and sides, for my wife, handed it to me with the words "pets are like children. We are so sorry for your loss. Bring this to Christine. Its one less thing for her to worry about".
David and Mario are the most attentive, kind, and most important, quick to respond, maintainence crew I have ever seen, bar none. David, in particular, has a heart of gold. His actions that day, when I lost a family member, will never, EVER be forgotten.
That one event captures my entire experience so far at midtown crossings. The team of josh, Amy, angel, David and Mario have become FAMILY. in my mind, there is A, community B. Home C, FAMILY
this is the very first time, in my almost 20 years of renting, that I have ever felt this way about the staff. The crew here is simply beyond words. I have been here a little close to 3 months, without my family, and they have made my life much, much easier; always being available, always being kind, always feeling like FAMILY.
for a man who has been forced to be without his family for close to 6 months, this means more than words can even begin to express.
I just wanted to take a minute to let you inthe higher ups how talented and incredible your team here in little old Raleigh is. They have left a mark on my life, and have made a very turbulent time in my life much, much...
Read moreI have noticed dramatic changes since there has been a change in property management and even prior to that change. I did not sign up for this when I signed my lease. I was assured this is a safe and "tight nit community" since living here it has been the complete opposite. I have had nothing but trouble since the first day moving in, as we all know the AC trouble we had moving in and the minor issues within our apartment. It was not ready for us to move in. I tried to be understanding throughout it. I was not given proper instructions on the trash valet and had to deal with the trash valet people being entirely rude to me when I have never dealt with trash valet in my life before. I have lived in many apartments in Boston and never have I ever felt so un-welcomed in a community. I moved in June 2023 and my husband and I both noticed a dramatic shift in the people coming in and out of the apartments. Many of the people are on drugs and high-- I used to work at a detox center so I know when people are high. People driving in their car high, getting high in the car. There are a lot of children in this community. This is not okay. More than one occasion there has been a neighbor of mine so high he can barely walk his friends have to walk him to the car. This is not something I nor most people want to come home to. Not to mention there are random trailers and motorhomes parking here on the weekends. All this within a few months I find it very strange once the property management changes all these shifts as well and I do not find it as coincidence. My two packages got stolen and I never had anything stolen until this week... very interesting. Now my current issue of my hot water heater only staying hot for 7 minutes while I am in the shower, now I can not shower at my own apartment I pay rent for because that is not enough time to shower so I have to shower at my gym, this is ridiculous and not at all what I agreed to when I signed my lease. I put in a work order on Nov. 3 in the morning and no one showed up or told me they would be by next week. They left me all weekend with a barely working hot water heater and now it is Monday Nov. 6 at 1pm and nothing from anyone about fixing the hot water heater. Seems to me I was placed in an apartment that had a lot of work to be done and never should have been rented out.
I sent this email to the management as well as updating my review here so you all are aware of what is going on and I will be updating my review as people need to know the truth when renting here.
When I first moved in June 2023 this was my review: So happy with Midtown Crossing! It is in the perfect location of everything we love and close to my husbands work 🙌🏼 April and Katherine are the best! Such awesome team work and got us the best deal ❤️ so happy to call this apartment complex our home. They are real people and treat you with respect and are NOT rude like a lot of other apartments I had viewed before finding this baby 🫶🏼 thank you for helping and guiding me through the application process and even as far as helping me figure out how to set up the electricity thank you...
Read moreI'll do the review in two parts - GVA Management - the company that owns Midtown Crossing Apartments, and then the apartments themselves. Midtown Crossing was purchased by GVA in 2022. Since purchasing, the office hours were altered, it has become increasingly harder to get anyone from the office on the phone, and most importantly, it took over 4 months to get a refundable deposit, over twice the 40 business days they said it would take. GVA and the Midtown crossing staff both pointed to the other as the reason I hadn't received my check, and Corporate claimed that the check had been cut and then stopped taking my calls for multiple weeks. I called over 100 times without a returned call. Thankfully, Tanya with Midtown picked up twice (the only employee who I've managed to get on the phone twice in a week), and I received a check in the mail with a date that was three weeks after Corporate indicated it had been cut. This is absolutely unacceptable, and I wouldn't live at a GVA-owned property again.
Regarding Midtown Crossing while I lived there (through July of '22), the maintenance team was kind, and I never had any issues with the individuals in the office if I went in to speak with them. The area is relatively safe, and any packages placed outside my door were never touched. There will be insects, as you can expect in the south anytime apartment complexes are near the woods, particularly on the first floor. Some buildings have cleaner halls, some do not...I lived in one of the older (non-renovated) apartments and despite cleaning the apartment multiple times and washing the walls, the smell of smoke from a previous resident wouldn't go away and there was mold growing in parts inside. I suspect this won't be an issue with the renovated models. You will pay for trash, despite you needing to take your own up to the garbage disposal, there are a total of about 5 recycling bins for the entire complex, the complimentary car wash was only functional at times, and Midtown does not allow for any kind of trailers to be parked in the complex, even if it is in one of the parking spaces you pay for. If you choose not to rent washers and dryers, the laundry room machines are very old and quarter-operated...and there is not a machine at the complex to get quarters from. Your wifi is included, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your preferred company. Lastly, you can expect an increase of at least $200 in your...
