I came in from out of town to visit family and came in to buy 2 bottles of wine. I'm a trans woman and haven't been able to update my ID, but am of legal age. I've never experienced any issues anywhere else I've bought alcohol, aside from here. The cashier informed me she wouldn't take my ID as she didn't believe I was the same person. She asked 5 separate people, each one escalating this to their superior until this situation was brought to Tom's attention. Tom proceded to call the stores GM which also told me no.. Even after showing them multiple forms of identification which they asked for.. Having worked at this location in the past I was upset to see that they treat people this way. I was here for almost 30 minutes for 2 bottles of wine and Tom the grocery manager didn't seem to care, offering no solution. Stacks needs to do better, this level of discrimination was shocking and nearly had me in tears. I certainly won't be...
Read moreOn Friday nights we love to go to the Strack's deli in Rensselaer and purchased cod. They fry it for more charge.
Three weeks ago it took 30 minutes even though the lady had quoted 10 minutes. One lady was doing all the work while the other 3 chatted. I did speak to the manager, John, about the annoying situation.
A week ago the lady behind the counter told me she didn't know how to fry fish and she didn't " know what a cod was". I told her I would pick them out and surely out of the other 3 ladies some one knew how to fry them.
Last night my husband went. He was charged $36 which he found extremely expensive. On looking at his receipt he found he was charged for 2 items that the lady in front of him bought The cashier did not know how to refund him. She had to ask many other associates before finally getting the manager. All this time the fish were getting colder and colder
Why can't they offer good...
Read moreThis place is awful. Until recently I bought north of 50 pounds of meat from them a month and the vast majority of their boneless meat had chunks of bones in it. Recently I got some chicken loaded with hair. More than half the time I go in they don’t even have what I’m looking for and I have to go somewhere else. There are a few staff members who are questionable employees as well. Stracks has the whole bring your groceries to your car service and that’s great if you need it, but upon informing an employee that I do not want to be followed to my car (I had to say it 3 times seeing as the employee was all but arguing with me about it) the employee swung a shopping cart around and hit me with it. Being assaulted and eating hair aren’t exactly my go to. Best thing this place has going for it is it’s the only almost decent grocery store in town. Very...
