Enchanted Gardens — Local services in Richmond

I usually have a pretty good experience, but my last visit - not so much. The staff, as my daughter and I roamed the grounds were very helpful and answered the couple of questions I had (which explains why I didn’t just give a 1 star review). However, the issue was when we got up to the register.

A couple days earlier, I’d visited and found a pot that I wanted for the front area of my house. The pot on the inside clearly had 24.99 written in chalk. I was like yes, a huge buy for me! I didn’t have time to grab it then as I needed to get my daughter from school, so I’d decided to come back the next time I brought her to camp.

Came back a few days later with my daughter, grabbed the same pot - again, it still had the 24.99 written in it. I even checked the tag to see if a different price was listed; there wasn’t. So, after finding a a few plants to place inside it, we made our way up to the front.

The cashier began to ring us up and says the 24.99 is the wrong price. She and then the manager as well, tell me that the workers just wrote what was supposed to be a 6 upside down. What??!!

However, as a consumer and not an employee, how would I know that?! There were no other signs or anything that indicated that the price was actually 64.99. I’ve experienced this before in other establishments and whatever the price marked /displayed was the price that was honored!

There was no if, ands, or buts about. It was like what I had to say didn’t matter. It was as though I wasn’t valued as a customer.

Regardless of the fact, I was not trying to get over or trying to get something for nothing.

I love how this place looks and I'd live to support it but its really expensive and I didn't have a good experience when I shopped here last. They literally charged me for a used dirty plastic water catcher to go under my plants and I thought it was complimentary. Once I realized it didnt come with my plants it was too late, I asked for the money back on my card and the clerk was so annoyed and rude to me about it that she literally threw the coins on the counter that then fell onto the floor. I was so embarrassed, I didn't say anything as there were customers waiting and just left and really I left in tears cause I was embarrassed already to ask for the money back since I knew I could just do a make shift water catcher at home. I am money conscious and don't like to waste. This is not to bash the company but to help management to make this a learning experience. I'm willing to try this place out again but maybe if you have sale items that I can fit in my budget and given better...

I love this place! And my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter does too! They have live chickens, roosters and a goat which are a highlight of her visit, not to mention the 4 foot tall dinosaur statue! I am not much of a gardener but I do like to dabble a little. The employees at Enchanted Gardens really seem to know what they are talking about and have always helped me to make the best selections for what I want to accomplish. Every plant I have ever bought there has been healthy and thrives well. Once I wanted a butterfly plant and they found one for me that actually had a butterfly Chrysalis attached! Bonus! It is like visiting a mini-botanical garden when you go there with all the special decor, the pond and the walkways through the garden.
