I inquired about adopting the sweetest puppy and was sent the application. I filled out the application and sent it in within 24 hours. I was contacted by the shelter that they were going to contact my landlord and to notify him of their call. Which I did. My landlord spoke with the shelter and answered their questions, all was well. My landlord has no problems or concerns about us having a pet. Next thing I know I received an email from the shelter stating my application has been denied due to lack of approval from my landlord. I know this is a lie because I had just spoken to my landlord about the conversation he had with the shelter. I messaged the shelter again requesting additional information because either they’re lying to me or my landlord is lying to me. The next day I receive another email from the shelter which stated “after further consideration we feel you’re not a right fit for this program.” So that means they wrongfully blamed my denial on my landlord. They never called any of my references or even spoke to my boyfriend who lives with me. They did not do their due diligence on getting to know me or my home and they lied to me about the reason I was denied. I’ve tried calling to speak to someone and have only gotten their voicemail to which I’ve not received a response from. I’m heartbroken and confused and incredibly upset with the way this shelter has treated me as well as conducted themselves. I would not recommend anyone having any dealings with...
Read moreMy family was in the process of trying to adopt a specific animal, Maeve, we had found on the southern paws website. We received a phone call and an email where we were told the dog was available. Then we were told the dog had been shipped to nj and they were in the process of reviewing our application. The next phone call we received from Ashley was all about her trying to talk us into another animal because she felt we didn't understand small dogs. Our family has owned toy dogs for over 30 years, in addition to currently owning a 7 lb. toy Yorkie. Moreover, we would be required to enroll the dog in doggy daycare one day a week (even though someone would be home at all times) and dog training for a year. After being told that a bigger, older dog would be a better fit, we hung up very upset over the loss of a dog we believed was available for us. Shortly after, I went to the petfinder website and found the dog in question had been listed under adopted quite some time ago, long before our first phone call and application. If you are looking for a rescue dog, stay far away from southern paws!! Bait and switch...
Read moreFirstly you need to be 25 or older to be able to adopt from this rescue, I was not aware of that as it does not state that anywhere. So I filled out an application to adopt one of their dogs (I'm just about 19). They respond to me pretty quickly, giving me the application. I submit it the next morning. They respond telling me the dog I was looking at was unavailable, which I understand. They start suggesting other dogs, and I finally choose another that I was interested, also unavailable. They then tell me the dogs brother is available, and I immediately say yes to it. (A few days have passed through out this). They then send me an email saying I need to be at least 25, after I wasted all that time. So I then have my dad submit the application for me within an hour of being told this, and now they claim the dog they recommended me is also unavailable, and it was the last one of that breed that I was interested in. All of this could have been avoided if they stated the age requirement, or if they said something sooner. This was a terrible experience. Would not recommend this...
