Have you ever been to Ripley, MS? A town of roughly 5,000 people, Ripley isn’t somewhere one typically goes to for a day trip or weekend getaway. It’s the kind of town you end up in for a specific purpose and on the Saturday night I chose to try this place out, several people had the same idea. As I’m walking in from the parking lot, I take note of tags from several different counties other than Tippah, the county in which Ripley is contained. I myself had taken the hour long drive to finally try the place I’ve heard so much about. Upon pulling into the parking lot, it was discouraging. The parking looked like a southern Baptist church parking lot when the regionally famous evangelist was in town. Folks were parked across the street and there were few spots to be found. It took a while for them to find us a table, about 30-40 mins, we had a party of 4. This place has so much potential but it doesn’t have an identity. It’s got the potential to be one of those restaurants that stand out for its food and offerings but it seems to be stuck in the mindset of being a country fish house. Beer and spirits are offered along side a decent selection of wine. The service was attentive at times but left a bit to be desired. There is a LOT of seating in this place and seemed like there were more people being seated than what the servers could attend to. It wasn’t an issue, just an observation. There were times where we waited too long to get a refill of our drinks. Again, not an issue as they used 32 oz (or larger) clear plastic glasses for the non alcoholic beverages. The real treat of the evening was the food. Those in my party ordered the pork porterhouse or the steak. I specifically had the 14 oz ribeye. The flavor was great and the seasoning was right. The only observation was the meat was a little more gristly than what I expected and there was a significant amount of fat versus lean meat. The sides were good and the feedback from the table was no one was disappointed with their choices. While there was an offering of essentially “steak for two” in the form of a 32 oz sirloin with 4 sides, opting for the the more expensive, better cut fail short of having a phenomenal meal. Again, the taste and seasoning was great. Just the quality of the cut for the price that was paid fell short of the expectations. I’d go back and try again at some point and I’d definitely recommend a country grown Mississippian or Southerner for that matter try this place. Just not quite a 5 star experience...

My wife and I love trying new places. We heard about this place and drove to try it. It is a cute little restaurant with friendly staff. The food is not over salted and the sweet tea was on point. Now the bad, my wife had a ribeye plate, I had catfish, and my daughter chicken tenders. She got two tenders, I got four half of filets instead of whole filets, and my wife’s steak was fair in texture and taste. We waited almost an hour, and they were not run over, and service was kind of slow for refills. The steak was comparable to one from Walmart and was not seasoned at all. This would not be a problem except the whole ticket was almost $75. Then they added an 18% gratuity that was non negotiable. Total dinner was almost $90 for a Walmart steak, two catfish filets, two tenders, and a salad bar that had a lot of brown lettuce in it. Overall I left very disappointed. Now a lot of people will disagree because they just love “local”, but save your time and go to the warehouse in New Albany. That is the place I use to...
Read moreMy third time and last time to eat at Biscuits.. the last time I ate there ordered my steak medium well and I recieved a bloody steak; didn’t complain because I know not every time you eat somewhere is it going to be the same; so we ate there Friday night and I ordered the steak and turf.. I ordered well done my steak had blood on plate and I tried to eat a small piece due to the OUTRAGEOUS price, but it was cold in center, taste like blood, and a texture that I will not forget.. about ruined my steak addiction.. my daughters hamburger was pink not fully cooked, and the appetizer was supposed to have melted cheese on top the cheese was not even melted and it was cold.. I don’t like to leave negative thoughts on a business but three times eating there and no change I will not be back.. But the bill was outrageous for three people; I won’t say amount but a person could have bought groceries for...
