Food Country — Local services in Rock Port

I am a contractor from Kansas City I have been working in Rockport for roughly 4 ish weeks out of the past 6 months. We generally eat at Subway as a crew(much props). Every now and then we will try to go somewhere else but they are either closed,temporarily closed or only open for certain hours. We have been to this grocery store before and have had a great experience.The other day we were going to the Mexican restaurant and they were closed. So we decided to try the grocery store to see if they had fresh food to go. Sure enough they had the best fried chicken we have ever had in our entire life. We got a three piece chicken meal with corn and mashed potatoes for $6.59. The manager was sweet enough to let us know that we could get a drink to go with that but it felt like I was getting away with highway robbery. My only complaint is that I did not see a tip jar to give the person cooking that fresh food that is...

I live roughly 30 miles from this place in a neighboring state. If we are anywhere near this store we usually make a point of shopping here. So I guess I would consider this a destination place.

The store is clean and the staff really helpful. They are also available; not a common thing much anymore.

They have their own meat market. Especially, great on site made ham loaf.

In the summer, there are usually local farmers selling seasonal produce in the parking lot; a big bonus.

The store also sells several regional Missouri wines. Here, you will find wines that my spouse swears by.

I go in here all the time but it's mostly convenience. They dont have a great selection. The selection they do have is not great. They have a freezer full of months expired meat. Bought a pack of day old fried food that ended up not being what we wanted. Little our fault for not asking, little theirs for not labeling what was in the package. Which is also common here. The employees are super nice but that's just about the only thing this place has going for it.
