Update we have been coming for awhile now. We check to make sure what time they close to try and not have that issue again. I spoke with staff about the incident and they apologized. We haven't had any issues since our first day. I think the reason they are so pushy is that they aren't allowed to stay very long but have to have the place clean when people are there that would make it difficult. Basically sounds like an issue with not giving working people the time they need and probably not wanting to spend the money to staff them. One thing about this location that irritates me still to this day is they don't allow people to come in from the back entrance so we have to go all the way around. We come here for picnics and for the kids to play in the back. But it makes it more difficult because they aren't as coordinated and its not disabled friendly that way.
First time coming on a Friday. We came to play in the pool. I have 3 special needs boys. I gave them showers and got them dressed afterwards. We normally go to the other YMCA location A guy came in the room (we go in the family room) and said hello. I said hello back. He was standing by the cleaning stuff. So I thought he was a cleaner. He said we were here past the time that they closed. I told him I wasn't aware. The other locations dont close till 10pm. So I was taken back by that. We were heading to the elevators but the guy kept repeating himself and following us. I told him to stop. That at this point its harassment. He wouldn't stop I told him I'm going as fast as possible. That they are special needs. He said that I scared him that he's security. He didn't have a security outfit on. After he kept following me and harassing me and my kids. I told him I could have his job for this. He continued so I took his picture. I'll be talking to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the most mortifying experience here yesterday and am considering cancelling and paying more to go to peak. I would like to start by saying I have been a Y member for decades and being new to the Rockford area I was excited to get back into my regular swing.
I have been coming to this location EVERYDAY for a month (this is important), yesterday I came in I scanned my membership card and was stopped at the desk. This was because I didnāt have a photo attached to my membership (did not look well when I initially signed up and the lovely lady at the river front location told me I could take a photo at a later date š).
The lady at the desk was abrasive and asked me if I had my ID with me, I started to say I did not have it on me but could grab it after my workout if she needed to verify because I was aware I hadnāt taken a picture yet, but before I could get my sentence out she continued to say that my ID needed to be scanned again because they cross compare with the sex offender registry for members 18+ (she did this in front of several other guests). While I absolutely agree with this practice as a manager this feels like one of those āthings we donāt say to guestsā and especially things we donāt loudly say to people in front of other people. I calmly explained that my ID was scanned and that I just declined the photo (not realizing it would be this horrifying down the line). She took a photo of me and let me go on with my workout, that I couldnāt even complete after that interaction. She couldāve simply said āwe donāt have your photo and need to verify your ID before taking one, this is a guest safety requirementā
I returned today with my ID in tow to make sure everything was ok but this truly soured my experience with the Y.. I hope to overcome but this definitely triggered my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would leave ZERO stars if possible. My party host, Keniya, was so sweet and I felt horrible for the lack of communication which contributed to her inability to provide the best possible host expectation. My party was to start at 2 pm. My bounce house was not set up until well after 2:15 and that was AFTER I had to go ask when it would be ready. They then set up a toddler bounce house for my 7 year old and her friends. Tia, the party coordinator/manager was no where to be found so Keniya was able to have them put up a more fitting house, but it was not ready until 3:15 and my party was to be over at 4 pm. I spent most of my time in the room, which I could have rented for much less money and I was not able to interact with any of my guests due to the majority of my time being spent hunting down and resolving issues that should not have been issues. To top it off, party favors were not provided. Tia was no where to be found and when she was around, she was sitting on the counter at the front desk, swinging her feet, chatting. She was not of much help and felt to have little concern for my issues. Having a party host should have lessened the stress and made my party operate more smoothly and the exact opposite happened. As stated, my host was awesome and I feel terrible that she has to take the brunt of all of the frustration that comes from her bosses unorganization. I would NEVER recommend wasting not even $1 on a party,...
