USED TO BE MY FAVE! This year's visit to the Vermont Country was a major let down. They do offer the same great variety of options that the always have. Big difference this year is that there are NO FOODSAMPLES this year. This was a huge let down for me as yes I do try a bunch of sample but generally walk out of there with a ton of product because, hey it is much easier to spend your hard earned money when you know exactly what you are spending it on! When we noted our complaint to the cashier that we where disappointed that the cheese samples are no longer available, cashier noted they originally removed samples due to Covid but he also kindly pointed out that they sell cheese in Rhode Island (so guess didn't need to make trip to VCS) and that most people that visited the store used the samples as a buffet. So basically VCS used Covid as a way to save them some money and an excuse not to dish out samples to their glutton customers. VCS please note I spent significantly less money at your business this year because you removedone of the main draws and uniqueness of your store. May I suggest addressing samples in a way maybe a wine testing would work. Customer get to try set # samples for a set $ price. If customers buys set # of tasted samples then no charge for samples. This would eliminate that massive burden your store must have been dealing with due to the gluttonous ways of your customers. Hopefully instead of using a disease that destroyed many lives and families as an excuse for you woes you may again find your way again and regain your uniqueness. Until then you business is just another country store in the State of Vermont. Read moreI don't get a chance to visit this store often because of the distance but it's usually a very pleasant experience. Unfortunately that was not the case for my visit yesterday. When it came time to pay our card was declined multiple times and our account instantly frozen. We asked the girl behind the counter to please hold our stuff until we could get to an atm which we were told was 10 minutes away. By the time we got back they had already put our stuff back and put all of our candies into one bag "because they didn't think we were coming back" even though we told them we were. The manager helped pull up the order and we were simply recharged for the exact purchase. The only thing was that they said they threw our different candies by the pound into one bag. However, when we got home we noticed that not all of the candy we grabbed was there even though we were charged for it all being there. I am assuming that girl who was supposed to put them back nibbled a few thinking if would do no harm. Not only is that extremely unprofessional but when your candy is over 16 dollars a pound its even more unacceptable. Needless to say I will not be returning to your store and will advise others to shop elsewhere too. Perhaps in the future you should add into the training that it is not okay to eat people's candy when it is being held for them. And all of this might have been forgivable if the manager had been friendly but she seemed more annoyed by us...
Read moreI ordered the "Triple Layer Cotton Blanket" made in Portugal. I wanted a cotton blanket slightly warmer than my two thin cotton blankets that I use together. When it arrived, it says Triple layer cotton gauze-not triple layer cotton. Big difference. As thin as a piece of paper. So, I posted my review and that rather than send it back, I would just donate it to the Salvation Army. Gave a one review for the item and a 5 out of ten for Vermont Store. About three years ago I got a winter night shirt and it was okay. They did reach out to me about this last item but I had already washed it to give away...9 July 25 I ordered a nightshirt online and when I got the confirmation e-mail, the item number was the same as the catalog but the description in the confirmation e-mail was different than the description in the catalog. Seems like I remember years ago when I ordered a different night shirt I had the same issue. I had to telephone the company to be sure I am getting the correct item I saw in the catalog.
