My 87-year-old mother recently spent 2 months in the acute rehab at The Jewish Home at Rockleigh. The facility is beautifully kept. She had a clean, spacious room with windows and sunlight. There were several beautiful outdoor seating areas on the grounds that she could visit when she was well enough. I was deeply impressed by the medical care she received during her stay. She was regularly visited by a host of nurses and doctors, who helped get all of her systems back on track. Often, they rconsulted with her longtime team of doctors, so there was a continuity of treatment. Erick Fay, the social worker, was very helpful as a resource. The staff of regular nurses and nursing assistant were very good. Thank you to Megan, Samantha, Bash, Sondra, and G. However, the BEST part of our experience was working with her main nurse’s aide, MARVA LAWRENCE. There are people who are good at their jobs, and there are people who have a gift for what they do. Marva has a special gift. Not only did Marva take immaculate care of all her physical needs, she was a beacon for my mom’s emotional needs. Marva has a certainty and clarity that made my mom feel safe. My mom trusted Marva so much, that Marva alone was able to move her towards rehabilitation, when others failed. As we were ending out stay there, Marva helped to teach me the tools I needed to learn to care for my mom at home. I would have been very scared and unsure if Marva had not taken the time and care to teach me. I cannot thank her enough for all she has done for us..... Sadly, my mom’s PT journey was not what we had hoped for, but maybe she was an unusual case. I would assure any one reading this post, that you will be well cared for at The Jewish Home...
Read moreDear Marva: We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to you for the exceptional care I received from you while at the Jewish Home Family sub-acute rehab facility in Rockleigh, NJ. I should point out that you extended a hand not just in health care but also in friendship to me as the patient and to my husband as my companion during the 30 days we were at the facility. Our day of arrival was stressful and full of expectations. It was also a very significant day due to your actions helping us get settled in and reassuring us that you would take good care of me. It did not take long for you to get my husband accommodated with a recliner and a companion bed. My husband also remembers stepping out of the room for a short while and when he returned, he found me crying of happiness because you had showered me, helped me change and get comfortable in my bed. From that moment on we started to call you Ms. Marva-lous! You are a very competent, take charge, friendly, kind and responsible person. At first glance your sense of humor was not apparent but once we got to know each other we found out otherwise. We absolutely loved talking to you about anything and everything and as the days went by we grew fonder of our relationship and today we are happy to consider you a friend forever. Marva, you are a phenomenal asset to the Jewish Home Family organization and a blessing to your patients.
Forever grateful
Susan...
Read moreBoth my mom and dad were cared for with love, kindness and dignity. The social worker, Eric Fay, was a pleasure to deal with. He was highly responsive and knowledgeable able their needs and options. The Physical and Occupational therapists were great at what they did, treating each of them with care and the right approach for their needs and personalities.
The nursing team was excellent and also highly responsive and caring. They worked well with the aides who were adept at handling demanding tasks like lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility and personal care. The Nurse Practitioner (Barbara) was also very responsive and attentive to their medical needs.
I have to single out Marva Lawrence for her care and style. Marva is a special health care professional who has a unique ability to understand and connect with patients offering comfort, personal care, support and socialization throughout their stay. She particularly connected with my mom and was key to making her stay in rehab smooth.
Marva provides care with a smile. She is extremely conscientious about personal care and hygiene, demanding the highest standards for herself and those around her. She is engaging, friendly and social in her relationship with patients and their families.
When mom moved from Rehab to Long Term Care, Marva would make a point to visit with my mom when she was in that area. Seeing Marva always brought a smile...
