Sky Rider Aviation Flight School — Local services in Rockport

This is a long post, but worth the read.

My son started training with another company but we got into a time crunch due to flights being cancelled so I reached out to David. He spent an hour on the phone with me and assured me he could get all my son's training done in 10 weeks, the deadline for my son to leave for college.

David kept me up to date on my son's progress, scheduled almost daily flights with his crew, Yanni, Collin and Gordon. They helped him with ground school, flew on the weekends and analyzed his progress weekly to identify any shortcomings.

8 weeks later, my son passed the PPL written exam with a score of 88 on his first try. Two weeks later he passed the check-off ride on his first try. The test examiner stated that he has never had anyone finish the oral ground test as quickly as my 17 year old son had done. David and his guys scheduled a celebratory lunch for my son and surprised him with it that week!

Sky Rider Aviation said they could do it if my son did his part. Well, they did. Thanks to them, my son started his college education as a sophomore rather than a freshman while he pursues a Bachelor's of Science in Professional Piloting.

My son has been in college 2200 miles away for three weeks. In a conversation, I asked him if he thought getting his PPL from Sky Rider was worth it. Without hesitation, he told me that there is no doubt that he learned far more working with Yanni and Collin than any of his classmates who already have their PPL. He said his knowledge base exceeds that of his peers and it has allowed him to transition into college level courses much easier.

And the topper, Yanni has still kept in touch with my son to check on him while he is in school. David has contacted me to check on my son and invited me stop by just to hang out. The folks really care, and it shows.

Yanni did an amazing job not just at piloting the aircraft, but also sharing his enthusiasm and love for aviation. They really had a blast up there.

My son has dreamed about becoming a commercial pilot for years, and while he and Yanni were in the air, David talked with me about how to best help him to achieve his goal. He answered all of my questions and I learned much more than I could have hoped for.

After they landed the plane, David let us try out their new simulator. He was incredibly patient and encouraging.
