I was looking to move on from my sealed collection, and after an attempt to move them individually across other platforms, I was getting quite annoyed at the amount of flakers. When Brandon contacted me on marketplace, he offered 80% of TCG pricing for EVERYTHING (80% is practically unheard of in surrounding Sacramento area for a LGS in my experience). We had some back and forth with the pricing, but eventually came to a number. However, though a part of me felt excited a 'whale' buyer was looking to purchase everything, a part of me also felt skeptical, due to the size of the deal. If you don't already know, the Pokemon hobby is full of scammers, so before agreeing to make the deal, I wanted to do some research. When I asked Brandon for the name of his shop, he didn't hesitate, openly shared his business, and told me his offer would be good for the weekend. Fast forward, I do some research, and was extremely surprised this entity had a near 5 star rating on Google. After verifying the legitimacy of their business, I agreed to the deal (after a last failed attempt to get more $$$ :P), but due to the how late it was already in the day, we agreed to meet the next morning.
The next morning, I arrived at the location 9:30 am sharp. Double thumbs up that this shop opens at 9am, considering most LGS stores around Sacramento normally don't open until 12 pm or later. Winners wake up early! The shop was extremely clean and smelled great (meaning no NERD B.O smell. If you get it, you get it). Brandon then helped me unload all the stuff. We started to chat it up, while he was checking all the sealed inventory. Afterwards, I had cash in hand within 20 minutes, and the deal was done.
The only downside was someone beat me to a PSA 9 Shining Tyranitar I was hoping to find and buy, as Brandon shared they just sold it a few days prior to my arrival. However, before I left, he shared he would keep an eye out once they are at Collect-A-Con LA for said slab. That surprised me, and shows just how customer focused this place is.
In conclusion, I would say, have no hesitation to do business with this shop. Everything is priced to match TCG player, and if you find a discrepancy, let them know. Brandon is a knowledgeable person with the hobby and his customer service was great. Also, if you are looking to sell stuff with high value, just know these guys aren't afraid to do big deals. Usually, big deals are only something you see on YouTube videos, but it felt great knowing we have strong buyers like this in the area who won't lowball you. There are lots of scummy people and LGS's in our hobby...do know Golden State TCG is not one of them. I look forward to doing more business with them soon.
update…when you been running on the grass over and over and over…hoping to finally get that .00001 % shiny Pokemon encounter. And then, it finally happens, the shiny wild Pokemon appears…the long wait finally over. Thank you again Golden State TCG for these...
Read moreThese guys are awesome. I took my youngest boys in today to pick up some Pokémon packs and to give my wife a break on Mother’s Day lol. The guys here really know their stuff and I was super impressed with their patience both with my kids and my lack of knowledge. This is obviously a shop that buys and sells actual collectible cards but it’s also a great place for those that are just looking to get some cards for younger kids that are just getting into it. The prices are really great for simple packs or single cards that younger kids can just play with and enjoy. I learned a lot about trading higher end cards just being in there and talking with the guys behind the counter. It was really interesting and the guys were great at explaining. I’ve been to other shops with far less patience for kids and people like me that don’t know a lot about trading. Definitely a great experience-I’d recommend this shop for both actual traders and the parents that are just looking to get their kids some cards. I felt really welcome there and that can be a bit harder to...
Read moreAwesome store that deserves more attention - I walked in looking for one very specific card for my master set and they were hosting a MTG night for their fans and customers - Atmosphere was very welcoming and inviting which is why I stuck around (despite not being an MTG player) and picked thru their $1 card box for what felt like an hour lol watched them interact with their players and do a cool giveaway for the fans playing MTG - that was awesome Matt behind the counter knew instantly what card I was asking about and knew that he had just sold one and had another one in the back for me to pick up - Owner (Brandon, I'm pretty sure) seemed very knowledgeable and they were extremely kind and pleasant to everyone there, myself included. Prices looked very fair, I wasn't necessarily window shopping since I was there for a very specific product but they had plenty of stock of the brand new set of Pokemon for a fair market price ! Going to be...
