Very terrible experience and I’ve come here a few times so this is rather disappointing as I do not appreciate the treatment here that I experienced today. I came in today and ordered 5 bagels for my family, a hot coffee for my husband, and an iced drink for me. We were making bagel sandwiches at home- so as you see a very simple order. And to-go which should be quickly.
There was one person working and making about 3-5 other orders when I walked in so I avoided them getting toasted to save him the trouble. I also tipped him since he appeared very busy. He proceeded to give everyone that ordered online and dined in their ordered before mine and he finally had my bag of un toasted un sliced bagels ready in 20 minutes sadly. He also told me the bagel I ordered at the counter and paid for when I came in was no longer there and what other one did I want (since he decided to give everyone else their food that came in after me which was unacceptable) I settled for a plain since I came in for cinnamon and sugar for my son.
I sit down thinking my drinks were coming after he gave me the bag of bagels but those still weren’t ready which was quite infuriating. I go back to the counter and say hey, it’s been 30 min dudes, we left our kids at home which are waiting on breakfast, i ordered to-go bagels with no toppings to-go that I declined toasting to save you extra work and we still don’t have our drinks. I check my receipt and see that every bagel has a different price so I then ask for my .45 cents difference between the plain I settled for and the cinnamon sugar I paid for.
At this point someone had came in to assist him and he asked him since he didn’t know how to give me my change back. I then explain to the gentleman what happened so he looks for my order and finds me and I just want to leave at this point he either appeared to not know how to issue a refund or he was being nice. He offered to make me one “on the house” I said we came here for un toasted , unsliced bagels with no cream cheese and now it’s been 30 min and your employee gave away the bagel that was here when I ordered and paid for. He said it would be quick, so I said okay. He simply took a plain bagel, went to the back and sliced it and topped it with cinnamon (pictured) and just gave it to me like that.
This doesn’t even look like their regular cinnamon and sugar bagels which look more crystallized with a caramelized topping. I appreciate the gesture but I came home and added sugar and butter and placed it in the oven for my kid. We literally live down the street and the kids were now calling and asking where we are and telling us they are hungry. My husband is annoyed and leaves by saying this is 30 minutes of his Sunday morning he’ll never get back. He then replies we’ve been here many times and we’ve never had an experience like this. Even last time this guy was alone but we never waited this long and we all ordered breakfast bagels with eggs and meat and some with cream toasted. He then starts looking up other bagel places in the area that we should try.
I’ve worked in customer service and education over ten years, my family is full of chefs and those with their own establishments and I’ve been writing reviews for years. I am also Yelp Elite. There was no apologies even a here’s something for next time for your trouble and yes this may not be a fancy restaurant but it’s all in how you resolve something and how quickly to make each customer feel like you care.
I am very patient and understanding- I wouldn’t have lasted in education for 17 years but this was just highly unprofessional and my family and I won’t return for a while. I don’t care about .45 cents but he didn’t even mention the cost was different. That’s keeping money for goods not rendered. However, it was waiting 30 min for a plain hot coffee, an iced drink, 5 to-go un toasted bagels, my bagel given away to people after me and no apology for having to wait through this whole experience. This was just quite...
Read moreAs I continue to frequent local, family-owned and operated coffee shops in the greater Sacramento area, I came across a place that has been opened since October 2021. This is none other than "Rose Café & Bagel". Conveniently located directly on Baseline Rd. and adjacent to Fiddyment Rd. in the Southwest Roseville area, this place shares a parking lot with a learning center while neighboring a Catholic church. This is a warm welcome since this neighborhood does not have much in the way of eateries and coffee shops. It is also primarily residential while serving the residents of nearby Antelope and Roseville.
I arrived with my +1 much later than the morning rush as we entered the building right before 4:00pm. We were greeted by the husband and wife owners as they immediately acknowledged us. They gave us a whole rundown of their business as they use locally owned coffee beans roasted exclusively from Pachamama Coffee while all of their bagels are made in-house and from scratch. The bagel process actually takes about 72 hours as this gives them their bubbly exterior look while being crispy and delicious.
As far as the interior layout of this place, it is quite impressive and spacious. Inside, you will see each table with a fresh rose in a vase while some of the wall art will greet you with really relaxing vibes. Additionally, there is a green banner displaying various quotes, a huge bagel display case, rustic bench seating, loaves of bread for purchase, and two video displays showcasing their drink and food menu.
Their menu consists of the usual coffee/espresso drinks as well as many different flavored teas. In addition, there are quite a few specialty chocolate drinks (liquid s'mores & salted caramel) that kids will love and even a few beer and wine choices for the adults. Finally, their food menu offers a huge variety of bagels and spreads, breakfast sandwiches, hot/cold lunch sandwiches, pizzas, and sweets including cookies, muffins, brownies, and their delicious cinnamon rolls (which the owner says are similar to Cinnabon).
Since I already had coffee earlier in the day, I ended up going with their iced "Strawberry Passion" which is infused black tea, strawberry syrup, and passion fruit syrup. My +1 went with an "Iced Vanilla Latte". And to eat, we split an "Everything Bagel" that was toasted with cream cheese. Prices are comparable to what you would find at a Starbucks or Noah's Bagels. Everything came out to us in less than 5 minutes.
Overall, both our drinks and bagel was absolutely delicious. My tea had the perfect amount of sweet and bitter as it was cold and refreshing on a warm summer afternoon. I also liked how the bagel itself had a more thicker texture to it which was a far cry from the stuff you'd find in a grocery store or even a dedicated bakery. All in all, "Rose Café & Bagel" was an excellent and inviting experience as the service, food/drinks, ambiance, and experience all ranked tops in my book. Best of all. they have very generous hours being opened seven days a week from 7:00am to 6:00pm. My rating, a...

I'm a big believer in the majesty that is cold brew. It's a beverage I always order unsweetened, no matter where I go, because I really want to taste the beans. I know that might seem unfair (especially if a place takes pride in sweetening their drinks) but it's something to keep in mind as you read this review.
My take? It was alright. It tasted like cold brew, but there was a chalky aftertaste that really threw me off. Drinkable, but slightly unpleasant.
Service? Excellent. The woman working the counter was running the place solo at the time, but she was quick to take my order and get my drink out fast. I watched her making bagels, and she seemed to be taking her time with care and attention. Great service from a barista who clearly cared about her craft.
I also really liked the vibe and decor. The place is light and airy, with lots of windows and plenty of seating. It was relatively calm and quiet when I visited, definitely the kind of spot where I could bring my laptop and get some work done. One odd quirk: the bathroom. There's a large window with no covering, and it looks out onto the street. I'm not sure if it's one-way glass, but it seemed like people could see in. Thankfully, you'd have to cut through the landscaping to get that close, so it's probably not an issue but it definitely caught my attention.
Overall based on my drink impression I rated this a 3 but I will say it's a very high 3. Just not the place for my cold...
