MJs Barbecue — Local services in Royalton

I’m so thrilled MJs opened recently, not only because we could use a good take out BBQ place in the area, but because they are open Sunday and Monday when most other restaurants are closed. I’ve ordered takeout twice and all the food has been great. Let’s start with the French fries which are hand made natural with a light crisp layer that I don’t normally like but they add just a little and it helps absorb more of the delicious beef tallow they are fried in. I was blown away by the sweet potato fries, made similarly, but by far the crispiest and most flavorful I’ve ever had! The pulled pork is delicious and goes perfectly with their little home made buns to make a delicious sandwich. The brisket is simple and solid and worked well on the delicious loaded baked potato. But the best meat might be the giant burnt ends, with plenty of bark and a sweet sauce. I thought the maple Mac & cheese was delicious as well along with the frizzy pasta they are now using. Smoked wings were super delicious as well! I’ll be back to try more soon! Be warned they often run out of things early, make sure to call ahead. Stop into Romas while you are they for great steaks and other meats and amazing fresh breads. I hope MJs does eventually open a few more days but it’s important to take it slow to survive as a restaurant around here....

I hired MJ’s to cater my granddaughter’s wedding, based on many recommendations from friends. I would HIGHLY recommend you do the same!! The food was perfect… plentiful enough for a HUGE crowd, beautifully prepared and presented, absolutely delicious and soulful… fresh, colorful, perfectly cooked, and top notch yummy!! The crowd we fed loved everything about it!! I personally loved the clear and consistent communication with Mattthew and Jash… every question answered, every concern addressed. “Not a worry in the world,” is what I heard from them repeatedly! Do you know how much that means when you’re planning a wedding?? Their preparation, hard work, dedication to quality food, and their integrity and positivity made the day exceptionally special and memorable for my granddaughter’s family and friends. Bravo,...

Maybe it'll get better as they get further along and get into a groove but we were really disappointed with what we got today especially for the price we paid. Got a brisket sandwich, my husband said it was just ok. We also got 2 grilled cheese but added chicken to it. We both thought it would come with BBQ sauce but it didn't so it was just grilled cheese on an upside down burger bun with chopped pieces of chicken. We also got macaroni and cheese, it was AWFUL. Literally the worst macaroni and cheese I've ever had. It looks like they use whole wheat pasta and it was cooked to death, basically mush. The cheese sauce was gritty, lumpy and overall just bad.
