Tech Farm Sales Room — Local services in Ruston

Visited here on Thursday afternoon, Nov 14, 2024. Normal hours are 1pm to 5pm M-F, depending on the students' schedule. But, the next two weeks, week of Nov 18 and week of Nov 25 the hours will be 3pm to 5 pm M-F. Then they will return to normal hours the week of Dec 2, 2024. It is better to exit off California Street onto Hull Street, but you can also turn onto Reese with its potholes. Then immediately turn onto Clark where their Sales Room is located. It's in a white building with a greenhouse semi-attached. They had a smaller selection of beef than what I had hoped for, but I bought a chuck roast and a sirloin roast, so I was happy. I'm sure the selection varies as to when they bring a steer to market weight and have it butchered. Prices are close to what you will find in the grocery store. However, it is locally raised beef on the school's farm, so does not go to the feedlot like commercial beef does. To me it is better beef plus it helps support their program. Disappointed they did not have any of their smoked hams yet, but the clerk said those usually are ready as it gets close to Christmas. They also have flower plants, herb plants, and some vegetable plants for sale. Currently, being end of the season now in November, plants are 50% off. I bought a sage plant for 75 cents. I love to shop the Tech Farm Sales Room for the plants in the greenhouse. They also sell excellent quality meats. The meats are not organic but they are as close to organic as you can get at a reasonable price. I like to shop the reduced for quick sell shelf for even more savings. I just wish they had better hours during the off...
