Ann did an amazing job working with my college-aged daughter. Ann's upbeat personality and encouraging approach were exactly what my daughter needed to get started with accumulated tasks she saw as intimidating. Ann taught her organizational skills, both relating to homework and to daily life, and worked on short- and long-term planning skills. My daughter had regular sessions with Ann, and after each session, Ann sent me super detailed reports of what they did and how it went. I have been a teacher for over 20 years, mostly at the high school level, and I was VERY impressed with Ann's professional knowledge and demeanor. She clearly understands this age group, and has strategies for helping them become successful students. She works well with neurodiverse learners, and has a "toolbox" of methods for helping them develop independent academic skills. Read moreMy son was diagnosed with ADHD in 10th grade. He is bright, had always done well in school and was eager to learn, but by 10th grade he had become distracted, disorganized, anxious and overwhelmed. I could see that he needed help with some of his executive function skills, but I was at a loss for how best to help. Ann was able to assess his strengths and weaknesses and identify ways to prioritize the help that my son needed. Her positive attitude and approach allowed her to connect with my son immediately. He had to work hard, but he truly enjoyed his sessions with Ann, and he could immediately see the difference she made in terms of planning in his academic routine. She helped him organize his assignments on a weekly basis, learn how to tackle and break apart larger assignments, and she provided substantive feedback regarding ongoing assignments. She made him feel capable, and that was worth its...
Read moreAnn has worked with our son for the past two years and has been an incredible resource for us. She is excellent at meeting the diverse needs of a high school student both academically and emotionally. As a student with dyslexia taking upper level courses while playing a varsity sport, our son presents a number of challenges. She has taught him how to research, take notes, read for important information, study for tests and break bigger assignments down into smaller less daunting tasks. But most importantly, Ann has helped our son recognize his strengths and gain confidence as a student. We have been so happy with our experience and will continue using Achievement Academics for the rest of...
