I went to the ER with symptoms which I thought was the start of what I feared to be sepsis from fecal matter coming through my urine along with air from my bladder on 4/12/24. I was immediately admitted. On 11/16, I caught the flu, had mild symptoms of the start of a UTI which I had never had before and a suspected Crohnās flare due to diarrhea I was having. I immediately saw a Dr. to get treatment for my UTI on 12/1/24. After being diagnosed with Crohnās approximately 20 years ago and treating it with proper diet and exercise, stress relieving techniques I was introduced to by my very first GI Dr. that I had a few visits with in the beginning of it all, had wonderful results with, yet do not have any records of who that original Dr. was, to find myself with a diagnosis of a Colo vesicular fistula that can be life threatening by the Dr.s there at MEASE Countryside Hospital. I was moving during this time and felt my symptoms were improving. Until the day of 4/11/24. I noticed a heavier increase in debris in my urine, the air came back and it was starting to become uncomfortable to urinate again on that day, due to my 40lb. Puppy jumping up and hitting my stomach extremely hard. It caused me to feel very ill on 4/12/24. My stomach was bloated, it hurt around my belly button and I couldnāt get warm, I had chills, no appetite. That evening I had peed 2x dark diarrhea within a 30 minute time frame, got scared from what I was reading it could be and went to Mease ER. Dr. Sharma, Dr. Stark, Dr. Joshi, Dr. Parayath, Dr. Alvarez, were all extremely attentive, caring and wonderful during my week stay. The entire nursing staff, techs., cleaning service, food staff⦠every single employee that walked in that room were personable, kind, caring and always wishing you to feel better soon! I have not had many hospital experiences due to being extremely healthy. However, my experience for the week stay at MEASE Countryside was exemplary! Although I was not able to have my hfistula closed with surgery at that time due to needing to subside my Crohnās flare first and let it heal, I was given very specific instructions to follow, Dr.s to follow up with and reassured that if I had to return to the ER there, I would be well taken care of. At first I was terrified to not have the fistula closed immediately. However, through the expert care and discussions with 2 surgeons, it was explained to me that a healing approach was needed first to see if it would close on its own during a two week time frame, allowing my colon to strengthen and become less inflamed, in case surgery was the next step. I canāt highly praise enough, the exemplary treatment the medical staff deserve for all they do for all patients! I have a full life ahead of me with life, family and friend experiences I am not ready to give up due to a life threatening condition that arose. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all you did for me while in your care!!!!!! The reassurance, precise instructions and referrals left me feeling confident in my recovery! Your care, It will be forever cherished and never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI arrived at 9:30 PM 4/21 with instructions from Bayside. Urgent care to be admitted for a bone infection in my toe. A partial amputation was necessary. I waited eight hours in the emergency waiting room and another 2+ in a bed in the emergency room, the hospital refused to look at or listen to The prescriptions that I was given by my doctor. For example, I told them I needed my morning blood pressure medicine. They ignored me and when my blood pressure spiked, they kept me in ER longer. All they had to do was listen to how I can control my blood pressure and we wouldāve all been fine. They do not trust the patient to share their level of prior care. They simply donāt believe you. Please keep in mind, the only controlled substance I asked for was Xanax. And it is simply a rescue drug for anxiety. It is not a regular prescription I take.have requests for medicationās that I use daily. None of them were narcotic. They simply help with cramping in my legs and feet, which are a problem for me. Dr Salamin raised his voice at me when I ask him for Tizanididne for the cramping in my foot and muscle pain related to min neuropathy Itās my normal scrip! He just refused to give it as prescribed for no apparent reason. This hospital has some fantastic nurses and caring people. Doctors, however, left me scratching my head. I want ibuprofen. 800 for my pain. They offer me either Tylenol (OTC)?or oxycodone. I did not want the narcotic. Tylenol is not an anti-inflammatory, which is what my body needed to solve the problem and the pain. It was like they were pushing oxycodone on me It is not what I was expecting as Oxy is not even something I take. My pain levels and anxiety levels were through the roof at times because the staff simply would not listen to the orders from my prior doctors. I watched my wife die in a hospital. Sleeping alone in the hospital. Bed is a tremendous source of stress of anxiety for me. The hospital cared very little about that at all. I do not like the attitude of the doctors in this facility. That is not a blanket statement as some of them were very nice. Dr Salamin does not listen. when I have another Hospital to choose, I certainly am not choosing this one. they did a horrible job managing my pain and anxiety. Keep in mind all that I was asking you for for the drugs that I am typically prescribed to make it through my life. I have never been to the hospital where you can have their narcotic or an over-the-counter for your pain relief. There are so many of other options available. Itās all right this Iām still a patient. I I will stay and complete the course of treatment. But Iām doing it in far more pain than was necessary. They couldāve made a difference by simply listening to me and listening to my previous doctors. I am sure they are all competent doctors and the nurses are very kind. But many of the doctors do not care what you have to say. I do it their own way regardless if your previous health plan with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE (over 2 YEARS LATER): I bet you're surprised to hear we still have heard NOTHING from this POS establishment. Saying they suck is an understatement.
On the evening of 6.30.23 I came to Mease Countryside via ambulance. As often as I've been to the hospital (not something I'm happy or proud of) I have never experienced such horrific "care". While I was being brought in by the ambulance they had to search my bag & wand me with a metal detector before anyone would even address me or my symptoms. I Was actually vomiting profusely while they were wanding me. Then, after they stuck me in the farthest room away, Ann the RN (if you could call her that) came in & started yelling at me for crying in pain..like what?! She tried multiple times to start a IV (ambulance couldnāt due to how dehydrated I was from vomiting) but couldnāt. Another RN came in & couldnāt either. Since I was still crying Ann told me to āstop it alreadyā (again). I donāt know what nursing school she went to but the #1 thing you NEED to be a RN is COMPASSION. She clearly doesnāt have it. Ann, in a very snarky tone said āwell it looks like youāll have to wait for someone with an ultrasound (to find my vein) and thatāll be a long whileā & walked out. At that time I decided to leave the hospital (since they literally did nothing for me) & had to catch a Lyft to go to another hospital. Also learned that calling 911 more than once in a day is considered abuse/harassment. Since it was after 1 am I called did a Lyft who brought me to AdventHealth. Where I didn't need to be searched before receiving care. Iād like to note that I never wanted to go to Mease in the first place as they almost killed my daughter 3 years ago. She has type 1 diabetes & they refused to give her her insulin when she needed it. When I picked her up she was vomiting & in ketoacidosis. We went to AdventHealth that day too. *makes ya kind of wonder why they need to do searches/metal detector before coming in⦠** as I left the hospital that night I made a statement in the lobby about anyone that loves their family should leave that place. A couple people chimed in & said āyeah AdventHealth is so much better!ā Ya got that right!! Oh & my son went to the hosp the next day to speak to someone about the lack of care I received. He was told we would get a call on Mon July 3rd. We are...
