The staff at this shelter are very friendly! That’s what earned them the 3 stars. I’ve been in several pounds in my time and this place stinks as soon as you walk in. Bad enough it would make it easy to turn around and walk out. They had a lot of cute dogs and multiple puppies ready to be seen.
However, the puppy my wife and I bought had doo doo on her fur when we first seen her and put a deposit down on her. We went back 3 times before we picked her up and each time the same doo doo stains were on her fur. The day we picked our puppy up she just got fixed and still had the same doo soo stain on her fur after her surgery. Not to mention we brought our new puppy home with kennel cough, putting my other 2 dogs and cat at risk of being sick.
It’s an awesome puppy and her personality makes up for the short comings of the shelter she came from. I wish they were taken care of and treated better while in puppy jail. I understand you get what you pay for but sending sick animals to a new home is...
Read moreWe saw one of the "Friends of the Animal Shelter" Facebook posts of a young dog that was at the shelter and fell in love. I logged onto the website and filled out an application for him and called the next day to see if we could come meet him. The staff was wonderful and informed me that we were the only ones that had an application on him so far. So, we made a plan to bring our dog up to meet him and see if we all had chemistry. When we got to the shelter it was clean and everyone was so kind and helpful. We got to meet the dog in an outside, fenced yard and let our dog be introduced as well. It worked out perfectly and we completed the paperwork to adopt our newest family member. He was healthy, current on his shots and clean. He is now home with us and we couldn't imagine life without him. If you are looking for a four legged friend, this is a wonderful...
Read moreThey play favorites. I've attempted to adopt 2 dogs from the P4P program and each time I mentioned an interest in each dog they've magically had adopters already. The most recent dog I was interested in wasn't even available on the website and yet somehow already has a home. But yet I was told to follow the proper process of "wait until the dog is up on the site to ask about the dog" before taking further steps. How, pray tell, am I supposed to do that if the animal is already taken before others are given their rightful chances in also trying to get the dog? Favoritism is wrong, and unjust to...
