A friend and I were in town for a few days to play some local courses and head to the Vikes game on Sunday. We knew we were going to like the conditions while driving into the entrance. Everything was a lush green and looked to be in exceptional condition. It was exactly that. That's only a small part of the great experience. We told the clubhouse manager we were from out of town and didn't know the course at all. He went out of his way to step outside and show us where the range, the 1 and 10 tee box locations, and the newer cart features. We were paired with 2 locals that were fun and great to get pointers from. At the turn, the clubhouse manager came out and asked how everything was. That was a great gesture. He didn't have to do that. The place was packed! The fairways, bunkers, and greens were in excellent shape. There wasn't a bad lie to be had. The greens rolled perfectly. I would love to find a public course just like this one back home. The truth is, I can't. Unless, I want to pay 120 bucks or more. Hats off to the crew and the leadership staff at Highland National! I can't wait to visit the Twin Cities again so we can play...

Read moreAh what a wonderful place in the winter (also summer but that's a golf review and this bogey golfer once shot 9 over par here and got too cocky about his game and suffered utter humiliation running his yap in his next round)! The nice people at Highland open up their 18 hole course to everyone in the winter (the 9 hole course is groomed w cross country trails), and I brought my four legged buddies out with me for a hike. There are no fences, so be careful about the roads and traffic, but there is a ton of room to run around on the course! By the water towers on the NE side there's a sweet sledding hill and on the W side a pond is shoveled out for local kids to play hockey. Big fan, will be back...
