Epic opportunity twice a year to see amazing views of Minneapolis/St Paul from. The Highland Water Tower is a neighborhood landmark located at the intersection of Snelling Avenue and Ford Parkway. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The tower was designed by notable architect Clarence Wigington and completed in 1928. Wigington, a city of Saint Paul architect from 1915-1949, also designed many other important structures in the area including the Saint Paul Public Safety Building (1929–30) and Como Park Pavilion (1934).

It was really an adventure to climb the tower because it was the last day that it was going to be open to the public (open twice a year, the third weekend in july and the second weekend in october). We arrived around 4:30 and they had to close at 5 pm there was a long line of people waiting for their turn but yeah! we did it and were able to admire the twin cities with beautiful fall views,

Although my legs were rubber by the time I got to the top, the views were totally worth it. After a very rainy few weeks, the stars aligned, and the weather was perfect. Learning more about Clarence Wigington, the architect, was really interesting; someone should make a movie about that guy!

It was a great experience. It's opened only once a year and just so happened we went on the first day it snowed here. They explained the history of the Tower. We received literature about the tower. We took pictures and videos. I had lots of fun. Now I had to walk up lot of stairs to get to the top, but, it was well worth it. The team that was there passing out the literature were very informative and patient. We enjoyed to...
