The Home Depot — Local services in Saint Thomas

Worst Home Depot Store I have been to in 20+ years: the lumber is 3rd rate and always soaking wet; the HDX "brand" is absolute garbage; always carries the most expensive solution (no shovel, axe or tool handles ... have to get the new tool etc). I don't know if it is just the St. Thomas VI store or whether the whole chain has lost its way, it used to be an excellent source of well made and well priced building materials & tools (now it carries toilet paper, household cleaners & automotive stuff ... they should focus one what they used to do so well). The kitchen & bathroom cabinets are all particle board covered in vinyl or laminate which dissolves/expands when wet, most of the faucets (Glacial Bay at least) are made of plastic and it goes on. Home Depot used to sell only quality that you could count on: they screened their product lines. Now I guess it is only the profit margin that counts. They have become a Walmart type discount/low quality operation. Check everything closely before you buy it ... it is probably very poorly made and would have to be replaced within 6 months, which will cost you more when you have to buy the item again for replacement.

As usual my trips to HD are good. However, the last at the door pumping the runny, thin hand sanitizer in your hand must've been tired standing on her feet. When she pumped my hand it spilled onto the floor. She loudly tells me not to drop it on the floor...and she kept going on talking...so I exploded with WOMAN, LEAVE ME ALONE, STOP TALKING TO ME! I know I stunned other customers around me, but she irked me, as if I meant to let the running mess spill out on purpose. I blamed her outburst on being tired, and low wages, and being at risky point, knowing COVID-19 #'s are increasing daily in the Islands. Besides that HD shopping...

As far as professionals using Home Depot they are disgustingly inadequate at taking phone orders I attempt to make orders and have them picked up I can spend hours trying to reach them on the phone and when I do get someone to talk to I’m immediately transferred to somebody else and then someone else and then when I can finally make my order I’m put on hold several times for them to check into things I’ve given them the sku for each item and it’s still extremely time consuming. This needs to get better at times I have spent all day attempting to place an order. Come on people this is...
