Dollar General — Local services in Salem

Dropped a Star! I was shopping for something specific and saw the shelf said Barilla Pasta BOGO 16 oz but when I we to checkout it didn’t ring up that way! I told the kid the shelf said Buy One Get One! He went back and checked I guess his manager said it had ended Today? And they forgot to take the sign down he refused to give me the posted deal and I had to tell him to take them off! He wasted my time and all the people behind me and he didn’t do the right thing! This is a first no other store has refused to make good on a mistake like this! It was only $1.49! But it’s the principle behind it! If you shop here bring a magnifying glass and read all the fine print on the shelf tags to make sure they aren’t trying to bait and switch you like this! It’s false advertising to have a sign up like this and not make good on it not everyone is going to make sure they get the discount they were expecting and wind up getting burned! Accidental or intentional doesn’t matter! It’s the only store in town maybe that’s why they don’t care? The first time I was in there they had no milk at all and couldn’t explain why? I guess I just wait till I’m in Walhalla or Seneca to get...

Id give them a higher rating, however their store is like most DG a little crowded especially on truck days. Like some of the DG this seemed for the most part better organized and the things on the last chance isle were priced. The reason i give them such a low rating is because i bought 2 2 pack D batteries and got them home and they were dead as a nail. I tried to return and exchange them friday the very next day with the receipt and was told i would have to come back monday to speak with the GM because i may have just took the batteries out and put dead ones in there. Now let me state that i donot personalmy have a vehicle and anyone from around here the normal gas for the 8 miles i am from the store is doubled due to the hills and curves. So to the rude unthoughtful DG employees thanks for not only wasting more of my time but money as well over dead batteries that were sold to me i got better things to do with my time than to get...

Very disappointed in our local DG store. I was in the check out line with my 2 year old daughter today and she was looking at some of the nail polish on a stand and had picked some of them up and put them back. One of the ladies working nearby made the comment to us that those nail polishes had numbers on them and that she was messing them all up. I politely told her they were messed up before my daughter had ever touched them. Very unprofessional and poor customer service. The store is always crowded with stock in the aisles to where you can't look at items and the store is very dirty and needs a good cleaning. Its such a shame that our small town can't have a better managed and more professional...
